@perianjay Gahhh, why did I buy my dress so early!!!! :(

I absolutely LOVED your dress, and I went searching for it all over town (or one similar) before I found mine. I've lost a bunch of weight over the last year due to a change in medication so the dress would fit me....

Now I'm questioning whether I can/should sell mine and buy yours (it would save me over $500 too).... I love my dress so much, but it's a sample that's pretty big on me and will need a lot of alterations. Can you tell I'm indecisive too?

@krystalball Can yours be returned to where you bought it? If you ever want to try my dress just let me know. I live in Markham, but my fiance works right downtown and we're downtown a lot. The only thing it doesn't come with is a belt/sash. It was extra and I didn't really like the colour to be honest. If you do end up wanting it I will give it to you for $700 local pick up .

Ps. I can totally relate to buying a dress too early. I definitely jumped the gun on mine. I'm the opposite.. if I keep it I will need alterations to make mine bigger and it's just not worth it. It will most likely change the look/integrity of the dress. I am a bit sad because it is such a beautiful gown. I love the designer too.. they make such nice detailed pieces.

Just catching up with your thread.  I totally commend you for calling it and respecting your boundaries.  I'm glad that you found another dress that you love even more.  I totally know what you meant by that you have to fit into the dress, the dress doesn't fit to you.

Being in a similar position, where my dress didn't even go up at all...I can relate.  Like you said, alterations would ruin the integrity of the dress.  My seamstress yesterday said that often when they have to take out dresses they never know what the quality of the material will be like until they start taking out the material...sometimes they are left with material that wasn't cut well and makes it awkward to take it out.

At least this way you can get the second dress that you love, love, and when you reach your weight loss goals you can get it taken in .

@veryvalentine Exactly! I was noticing that my biggest stress was the worry of losing weight. Don't get me wrong.. I still have every intention to lose some weight and tone up a bit, but I didn't want to be thinking about it 24/7 and getting upset like I was. My second dress is coming soon so I will see how it looks on. I'm pretty excited about it though because it does have a tulle bottom and I originally wanted Tulle as well. :P

@perianjay - Sounds like you are happy with your decision (even if it's hard to let the dress go). I think it will work out for you in the long run. Tough call to make, though!

@vancouverpetunia Thanks! It was tough, but I think it's what is right. After talking to my mom this weekend I felt at peace with selling it.

@TinkerSofi I was actually starting to get upset over it and it's not the type of dress that fits you.. you have to fit it! haha if that makes any sense. There was no give/corset back.. It was just stressing me out too much to think that I wouldn't know if it fits me by the wedding or not. I didn't want to wait too long and then realize it was going to need all these alterations or maybe even adding a corset back (which I really didn't want).

I figured it's probably best to sell it before anyone has even worn it/any alterations have been done to it. It just wasn't meant to be and i'm fine with it now. It is such a beautiful dress though.. :(

another thing is that you didn't want to wait until the last minute when it was too late to order anything else so I think you made the right choice.

I know the feeling as sometimes I also wonder if I made the right call buying my dress. It's not that much smaller than what it needs to be but you do start wondering. At this point I have to make it work and I'm ok with that, but I think if it had been a lot smaller I would have made the same choice as you. I'm having a hard time losing the 4lbs that I wanted to, so yeah, having that stress in the back of your mind that this dress needs to fit really doesn't help either.

I think one of the past brides from here said that wedding chicks has a couple of sales a year, and if I remember correctly one of them is Labour Day, plus I think near Fourth of July, which is right on top of the Canada day holiday. if you're signed up they'll email it to you. Tyrgrlily got hers from there and they turned out awesome!

@TinkerSofi Exactly! I don't doubt myself and I do know that I can lose some weight for the wedding, but my issue was having a set size that I needed to get to. It was seeming almost like the goal was unrealistic. I'd prefer to lose weight at a pace that doesn't overwhelm or stress me out. I always find it harder when you are trying to lose that last few pounds! You can do it though :)

@acw271011 Great! Thanks :) I did remember tygrrlily mentioning that as well. Also @Wafflesmom bought hers as a black Friday sale. I've been waiting for a few months now and i'm thinking it's about time they should get a sale going ;) haha

@perianjay tough call with the dress but its the right decision for you that matters. I bought mine a few years ago but we ended up cancelling (ill health in family). It's a beautiful red dress but there are so many more that I like better now. My taste has probably also changed just wish my body shape would as well haha x
