That's an amazing price! We are hoping to keep ours under 10k..

I know.. I'm really hoping to get some response to my questions sometime this week. The suspense is killing me! haha

You can do it!!! It kind of just worked out. We picked the resort and then figured out what it would cost and set a budget we had to save per month to have it paid off at the time Of the wedding. It was tough but we did it. When I realized it was doable I stuck to my budget and it was hard to get me to budge. There are pros and cons to this LOL. In the end I think we spent $17000 in total Which is respectable as a wedding at home would have cost way way more than that and we got a week in paradise.

Yea, the FI and I have been cutting back on certain things and being strict with saving. We don't want to go into any sort of debt for the wedding.  I'm also buying decor stuff and little things with money outside of the wedding savings fund.. I won't notice it as much this way haha.

I agree. We did OOT and gifts and such outside the wedding budget. Debt wasn't an option for me. As a single mom for years that stressed me out :)

I will be sharing different things here sporadically. I just wanted to share my DIY "MRS & MR" chair signs.

I sourced the glitter paper and mint coloured cardstock from Michaels. It cost be just under $10 to make, which is fine by me because the same thing on Etsy can go for more!

My only worry is that they may be a bit oversized for the Tiffany Chairs..

@perianjay we're also trying to stick to our $10,000 budget but finding it so hard with the exchange rate. This won't include our air and hotel package and we've also tried buying things as they go on sale. We already have our OOT bags since weddingchicks had a 50% off last year and will now try (though dreading it) see if the closure of Target can be of benefit to us

Hey how did you do your chair signs? I gave no creativity whatsoever in me! I envy you

@Wafflesmom I know!! The USD rate is KILLING ME! Some brides paid in Pesos.. I envy them lol. I love that you got to take advantage of the weddingchicks sale. I'm hoping to do the same thing and just waiting for the email for when they have the sale. I have 80% of the content for my OOT bags.. will post that shortly. Dollarama actually carries some great finds for the bag.. And a lot of brand name things which is nice.

I am also hoping to find something at Target, but last time I went I was a bit disappointed.

For the signs I just printed out the letters using Microsoft Word, cut the letters out one by one, and then I traced them (upside down - so you wouldn't see pencil on the front of the letters) on to the cardstock, cut them out and used spray glue to bond them! I just used a regular hole punch to make holes near the tops so that I could attach them with ribbon. It was a bit time consuming cutting out the letters, but I felt accomplished after :)

@perianjay Paying in pesos would be so nice! I hope the dollar goes up soon, it just pains me to lose so much money! And it's something we don't have any control over!

Oh the weddingchicks sale is definitely worth waiting for, I'm surprised I haven't seen anything lately. Maybe there will be one for Valentine's Day? I'll check out dollarama, thanks for the tip.

And thanks for the instructions. It will take time but at least it will save us money

My OOT bags thus far

Attached File  20150208_170907.jpg   75.53KB   21 downloads

So here is what i've picked up so far.. (not all quantities shown in the picture of course - I have over twenty of everything)

Excel mints - Dollarama .77 cents

Bath and Body works sanitizer - 3 for $5.00

Kleenex Tissue - $2.00 for a pack of ten (Dollarama)

Wet Wipes - Dollarama $1.00

I Love ... Bubble Bath/Body wash (A total PALACE need with the giant tubs in the room!) - Found them at shoppers after Christmas sale, 6 pack was originally $13.00, got them for $6.00. - I bought 4 packs of 6.

Blistex - $1.25 from Dollarama (good because it has an SPF in it as well)

Advil - 24 pack. $1.79 + tax (I got these using a coupon from the Advil website. The No Frills grocery store sells the 24 pack for $4.79. Technically the coupon is supposed to be used on 50 pack or more, but the grocery store never reads the coupon properly... lol)

I plan on buying a few more items, but haven't decided what yet. Open to ideas! :)

No worries! Anything to save a bit considering it really all does add up. In the start of my planning I didn't realize all of the little things I wanted would be so costly (Ie. lighting) so i'm trying to make small cuts here and there so that I can have most of what I want

BBW always has coupons. I got most of my hand sani for under $0.80 each.

Also I found coupons for the Pepto and emergen-c haha I spent a lot of time online.

I was a lucky bride who paid in peso.

@calgarybride2015 Oh wow that's pretty awesome! I didn't even think to use a coupon at BBW.

I need to look into some more couponing options! :)
