Hi!

I'm a BC bride too! Just joined the site looking for tips. Getting married on November 17, 2015 at Now Amber Resort in Puerto Vallarta Mexico! Puerto Vallarta is a really great place for BC people to go to because of the direct flights!

Hi @@amberc welcome to the site! It's great to see another BC bride We were at Puerto Vallarta last year and absolutely enjoyed it. We stayed close to the Malecon so we walked around everyday. It was beautiful at night and I felt so safe, the locals were really friendly. Since we were there last year, we figured that we'd visit the other side now.

How's the planning coming along? This site is great when it comes to tips and the bride's on here are awesome! Everyone is helpful so don't hesitate to ask any questions.

@@Wafflesmom Thanks for the Welcome!

Ya we have been to Puerto Vallarta twice now. The first time we stayed close to the Malecon which was really nice, and the second time we stayed at Now Amber Resort and we fell in love! It also feels less stressful planning the wedding from so far away after already visiting the resort! I definitely feel more confident about my decisions of locations for the ceremony & reception and I know what to expect in terms of food (which is excellent).

I definitely want to visit the other side of Mexico as well, but Puerto Vallarta is so much more affordable living on the West Coast.... perhaps one day!

Hi @@vancouverpetunia! Wow, two more BC brides, I'm so happy!! How's your wedding planning?

Things are coming along for us. We are confirmed at Now Sapphire for April 7, 2016 and just did a site visit last week (we did a last minute getaway to the Mayan Riviera, so couldn't miss the chance to pay a visit). Our guest deposits are due May 15. I think I've decided on colours and now starting to think about dresses, decor, etc. But we have a year, so I'm not too worried about it. That said, I'm a planner, so I'm now completely obsessed  :P

@@vancouverpetunia you're in great company, there are a lot of planners on here, myself included You're lucky you did a site visit, we unfortunately aren't able to but we've had a lit of friends who gave been to Moon Palace and have assured us that we're in good hands. What have you decided on in terms of colours? Ours are coral and grey. I'm not sure if you're thinking about getting ready robes but La Vie En Rose is currently have a 3 for 1 sale and there's a peach, and a navy kimono that's included. They are pretty so I got some and took advantage of the sale!

@@Wafflesmom I saw that La Vie en Rose sale posted on the weekend and bought 3 robes online yesterday! My first wedding purchase  :) We are doing peacock colours (but not a peacock theme) - blue, green and maybe some purple. At least I think we are. I only decided that yesterday morning and then saw the robes and bought them, so I guess I've locked it in?  :D

I've heard good things about Moon Palace. I'm sure it will be amazing! We booked the resort without seeing it, but I have a work colleague who was married there 2 years ago, so that helped to reassure me. The trip last week was very last minute. I never expected that I would see the resort before we arrived for the wedding, so I was pretty excited.

Question for all Vancouver area brides - I am planning to wear a very casual dress. Probably white, but likely basically a sundress. I don't know that bridal stores will do the trick (and may mark up the cost). Any suggestions on where to look in Vancouver?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
