How Long Does It Take To Hear Back?

Recommended Posts

I posted a topic earlier in January but I am just curious to hear how long it has taken for OUTSIDE vendors such as Event Planning/Decor Rental companies and Florists to respond to an email.  ( http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/topic/78580-secrets-maromaplanner-1-events/ )

First let me say that I understand that things aren't the same here as they are in Mexico but I would love to hear your thoughts and experiences with similar situations.  I have about 5 months and plenty of time until my wedding, but am trying to plan everything out as we go to keep our budget in check.

I was referred to Gabi at Planner 1 Events/Canteiro Flowers and it is taking them quite some time to respond.  Since they are an outside company and do not work for the resort where I am getting married, it is concerning to me that it takes multiple weeks to hear back regarding simple questions.  Considering what I've seen for their pricing, I would hope their customer service would be a little more reasonable.

Does anyone has any experience working with Planner 1 Events/Canteiro Flowers?

I have also received quotes back from Marvin at Maya Florals (who has rave reviews) and Laura from Premium Flores.  Both seem wonderful to work with and are very timely in returning my emails.

Thank you in advance for your suggestions and help!

I never booked an outside vendor but I did look into some. If it's been weeks with no response id personally cross them off my list and say they don't want my business and/or aren't the right company for me.

With the photographers I emailed I think 2-3 days was the longest I waited. Their response was super fast.

The resort had their moments of it taking a week or more but for a vendor that should want to secure your business I don't think I personally could stomach waiting a couple weeks or more, especially if Other vendors / contenders reply quicker.

Good luck.

Thank you!!! I agree... I used to work in the wedding industry and I can't imagine taking weeks to respond to someone if I wanted their business.

I am super close to saying nixing the rental decor and saving money.  After all, we're getting married on a beautiful beach at an amazing resort and think it will be perfect with just having a few flower arrangements and candles from a more responsive vendor.  Thanks again Kim!

I agree. I stressed about this stuff and in the end it didn't matter. Mexico is beautiful and I forgot that. I did have stuff on each table - vase with flowers, frame, and candles and honestly, it was more than enough. Save your money for things that will mean more and things that will create memories.

I've hired outside vendors for everything bc my wedding is not at a resort.

My cake baker, initially next day, now same day.

My makeup artist init. 2 days.

, now same day.

My dj always same day

My photographer init same day,now usually same or next day

My florist, same day

My officiant always same day

My on site wedding coordinator used to reply same day but she quit and the new one takes some time maybe a few days, but shes new.

I don't contact my vendors weekly or monthly. But In the beginning I had questions and they replied using the criteria mentioned above.

There were many many other vendors I contacted but bc their communication was very slow I skipped them. Yes Mexico might be more relaxed and my Mexican friends here at home are usually late lol BUT $ is $ and it all spends the same. So if I'm spending I want someone who is gonna go after it just like I did to earn it. That's my thoughts- don't pick a lackadaisical vendor. Get one eager to work.

My vendors (photo, hair/make-up, flowers, decor) always within 24 hours, with a couple exceptions (in which case they always apologize and offer a reasonable excuse). Any vendor that took over 4 days, I skipped over and chose a different company. I questions the work ethic/service of any company that cannot answer an email in a timely fashion (even if they are on Mexican time, they work with enough american/Canadian brides to know we're slightly crazy and need quick responses!).

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
