Sand Ceremony

Recommended Posts

I have a question. I would like to do the sand ceremony however i'm not sure how it all works. Im sure you can do whatever but I wanted to get some opinions on what others are doing or what they did.

Do we pour at the same time? If we do this wont it be just mess of sand, as apposed to pouring one at a time and making it into a neat pattern?

Thoughts?

You can do either - I'd google and search on this stie for sand ceremony ideas, and just put together what you want!

Some people have parents put the "foundation" sand on the bottom (a layer) and then they pour together to signify they are now one/cannot be separated.

You could also do it alternating, if you still want it to signify togetherness but also want it to look pretty :)

I'm debating what I want said during the ceremony, and who I want to ask to do it.  I think we'll just alternate pouring so it's a pretty pattern :)

Thanks @marinah84

I just saw that some people do paint as well... get a white canvas and have two different coloured paint and pour it from the top and it combines all pretty! What a neat idea!!! :D

The only thing I'd be careful of with that is the wind in Cancun!  I've been obsessively watching wedding videos at my resort (trying to find small details that people haven't posted, etc) and EVERY one of them is windy!  I'd be worried with paint that it'd get on the dress!

Maybe if you were doing an indoor ceremony?  Or if you were ok with doing it as part of your reception, in out of the wind?

It's a really fun and creative idea, but definitely has the potential to get messy!

It was very windy at my ceremony! I didn't do paint or sand or a veil or hair down lol and all of those would have been flying in the wind!!! Thankfully for it though or we would have been even more hot than we were

Did you do a candle lighting or anything instead of sand?

We only did what the minister had planned. Very short. We only said 'I do' I thought it would be a repeat after me thing but it wasn't.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
