How Do You Travel With All This Stuff?!

@@breezie - I believe your dress counts as your "small personal item" but I'm sure most airlines aren't going to say anything about it anyways. Then you could also be a small carry-on size suitcase. I hear some airlines will let you hang it in the captain's closet. I'll have to start buttering them up as soon as we get to the airport!!

I had 3 suitcases for wedding items and 3 for personal between our family of 4. Thankfully all that baggage was included as we had a free upgrade to first class.

I had a large suitcases of tumblers with oh shit kits inside. I had another small carry on size suitcase of maracas and then another large suitcase of treasure chest, vases. Frames, candle holders, etc. Nothing was breakable.

I didn't purchase any linens or sashes etc. Either used what was included or rented from the resort.

I got my maracas from Amols. I then used a sharpie to add our wedding info :)

@@calgarybride2015 my maracas are from Amols too! I bought all red!

I got the multi colored ones. Only ones I wasn't overly impressed with was yellow. Looked like they needed a second coat of paint. They are cheap and perfect!!!

If you wanna see them in action, I posted some pics on page 36 of my planning thread.

Just as an FYI in general the resorts discourage sending items down to them just in case, as was mentioned, they get lost or damaged in transit.

@@rachelia160 you are totally right! I have read that not a lot of decoration is needed because of how beautiful the location is!

We are doing the ceremony on the beach (which of if have over 80ppl- which im hoping not) then i may have to change it...

the cocktail hour is at the orange lounge, which i have heard mixed reviews about this....not too sure if its nice or not. Seems to be... and our reception is in the Bamboo Room- again based on amount of guests. My FI and I both have HUGE families and we cut out list down to 143ppl thinking that a lot wouldnt come. But man were we wrong everyone seems to want to come!

What about you?

@@JenniferH114 thank you so much!! I didn't even think about the carry on!!! So I can bring a carry on as well as my wedding dress and same for my man he can bring a carry on as well?

Beach ceremony, beach bar cocktail hour, and Castaways reception for me!

I originally had my cocktail hour at the Orange Lounge as well but changed my mind after I went to visit--and there isn't a bar right there so I'm guessing drinks take longer since they have to go up to the lobby bar to get them, and it's a little less private since it's smack dab in the middle of one of the main walkways. I spied on a cocktail hour at the beach bar and it seemed nice cause the guests could still see the bridal party taking pictures on the beach and they were able to call down different guests to get some group shots, so I just thought it seemed like a better option for me. I think that's what I would recommend, but it's obviously up to you!

Have your guests started booking yet? It'll be interesting to see how many people you end up with! We invited a lot of people too--pretty much whoever we would have invited if we were at home, I figured we'd just see who ended up wanting to go.  So far we have 50 guests booked, which I think will be about it, unless a few surprise people book closer to the date. It's definitely more than I expected, but I'm thrilled!  I bet you'll be surprised at how many people you end up having!

@@JenniferH114 Have you ordered your maracas yet? My wedding is in May too and I'm trying to figure out the timing of when I should!

@@calgarybride2015 wow I was planning to get my maracas from Maracas Mexico this whole time because I really want them personalized but buying the cheaper ones from Amols and then using a sharpie to personalize ourselves I think is a really great idea!!

@@rachelia160 thanks for the info! I email Ariadna to see if i can change the location for the cocktail hour!! No one has booked yet! With a wedding date if October 20th I asked that everyone be booked no later than September 1st. Do you think thats leaving it too late?

Is anyone else using the soloist for the cocktail hour?

I will check out Amols!! Thanks ladies!  :D

@@smileitseb - I haven't ordered yet because I'm trying to hold out to see if a few "maybes" are coming. I'd rather avoid having to order too many extras for just in case. Maracas Mexico told me to order at least two months in advance and they said the sooner the better since wedding season starts to pick up around that time. I'm thinking I'll order by the end of February (unless I get some of the RSVPs back sooner).

@@breezie - Maracas Mexico is a company that does personalization (colors, writing, names, pictures, etc.). They are located in Mexico so they ship right to your wedding coordinator at your resort with no hold-ups.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
