@@rachelia160 thanks for the info! I email Ariadna to see if i can change the location for the cocktail hour!! No one has booked yet! With a wedding date if October 20th I asked that everyone be booked no later than September 1st. Do you think thats leaving it too late?

Is anyone else using the soloist for the cocktail hour?

I will check out Amols!! Thanks ladies!  :D

@@smileitseb i too was thinking about get the Maracas from Mexico when i got down there, but i have this huge fear that i wont be able to get them personalized of find the colours i want LOL.

Most people on here seem to set their book-by dates really early, or have early due dates from their travel agents cause they did a room block. I don't have a room block so I'm letting it go later.  I've just verbally been telling people to be booked by April 1, but again, 99% of the people are booked as of right now. I bet yours will be the same way and people will be booked way before September 1 anyway so I think that's fine.

I ordered a few extra maracas so I could have enough for any last minute RSVPs and I also wanted one for myself.

I ended up having some left over after the reception so I brought them for the girls at work as souvenirs. They loved them!

From Amol's the size I bought (medium) is only $1.65 for the pair so it wasn't a huge burden to have extra on hand.

I had 3 suitcases for wedding items and 3 for personal between our family of 4. Thankfully all that baggage was included as we had a free upgrade to first class.

I had a large suitcases of tumblers with oh shit kits inside. I had another small carry on size suitcase of maracas and then another large suitcase of treasure chest, vases. Frames, candle holders, etc. Nothing was breakable.

I didn't purchase any linens or sashes etc. Either used what was included or rented from the resort.

I got my maracas from Amols. I then used a sharpie to add our wedding info :)

Who did you fly through?! I free upgrade!!! how sweet is that!! Did you book through a travel agent? I decided not to cause guests could get a better deal from where they were flying from, as well as Flight centre told me that they could do nothing to help out guests coming from Scotland as its a totally different system. So I just thought everyone could book on their own! Fingers crossed the hotel doesn't book up haha

I went thru an agent. Air Canada Vacations offered us a free upgrade. We almost didn't take it as I have kids but my friend offered to sit with them. All our guests came from Canada. The ones in Mexico worked their own stuff out :) I also got a free package (minus taxes) for every 17 person booked so got 2 totaling around $2000 credit from them as well.

I've been thinking about the same thing. I think we're just going to try and bring as little as possible in the way of decor (the place is beautiful as is). The flight carrier we are going with (air transat) lets you bring the dress as a carry on, and we're just going to pay the extra $100 for an extra 20kg just for wedding stuff.

Have you considered asking some guests/family to carry some of the items in their luggage that you'd like to bring down for your wedding?

Enjoy your research, and all the best with your plans - cheers! team MTM :)

I was lucky enough to have people offer to bring all of my decorations and favors down for me. I took over 100 chair ties with me that I had ironed flat and rolled up together. I used some gigantic suitcases and lots of packing materials. Luckily most of my decorations were lightweight and fit easily together in suitcases. I would start asking  groomsmen to commit to carrying on a suitcase for you! You know boys pack 6 items and are good for a week! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
