This is a great topic that's been on my mind! Our beach wedding is at 4 and the outdoor reception starts at 5. I want our guests to be comfortable but It's a wedding so I feel shorts are too casual. I am trying to be fair and happy :)

Also curious as to what shoes other brides are wearing on the sand / lawn? My MOH wants to wear heels but I think I will fall over Lol!

Idk I say (my opinion) shorts could be fine. After all your having a tropical destination wedding. I'm sure no one would wear jean shorts. Women probably wouldn't even consider shorts. They probably would want to wart dresses. Now if you you are having an inside ceremony and venue under air conditioning it might be suggest dress or dress casual if specifying your guests attire is of importance. Also time of year and time a day have a lot to do with the elements and what your guests are comfortable with if it outdoors.

I am wearing barefoot sandals for ceremony on beach and ballet slip ons for dance supply store for reception!

Congrats!

Thunder thumbs gets me every time! Ignore my typing! ;)

The first time I went to a DW as a guest I was a bit stressed about what to wear (more so than when I would attend a local wedding). I didn't want to seem to casual but I also didn't want to show up too dressy (since it was on the beach and all).

When we decided to have a DW we wanted to help our guests with some suggestions. We don't really care what they wear as long as it is comfortable and they are not topless in their swim trunks lol! We simply put on our website "Beach formal attire" (to be honest I didn't know this was a term until I started asking around and googled it haha) and said no swimsuits or coverups please. :)

We said no swimsuits. As suggestions we said a nice pair of shorts or a sun dress. I feel bad for the men that wore pants because it was hotter than heck. I had sweat running down my legs in my dress.

People asked us so I just finished posting something about it on our website with some picture examples. I think it's confusing for a lot of guests because they've never been to a destination wedding. I wish I could just say "just make sure you look good" haha but then that doesn't help much. It's mainly the men that ask but I've had some of my girlfriends ask too.

I thought that was weird, one of my friends asked if there was a specific color she should wear? I didn't know people did that

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
