Getting Dress To Resort

Recommended Posts

Call your airlines. They are not allowed to state on their website that bridal gowns go in the captains closet, but they do.

It will be considered your carry on. I have never heard anyone not being able to put their wedding gown in captains closet. Pretty common.

Some airliners don't have closets but definitely call and find out. The closet on our plane was short so even though it was hung up the train was bunched up the whole way. My friend brought a travel steamer for us that came in super handy. I was hoping humidity would work but I think Our rooms were just to chilled From the AC. The steamer worked like a charm.

No one questioned me having a dress as an additional carry on and I think most airlines would be the same. Although my airlines website stated the same about it being carry on size. I feel strongly this will be a non issue.

Hi All -

I flew United and carried my dress. Unfortunately, the flight attendants were nasty and made me put it in overhead.  My new hubby was sweet and thankfully had the foresight to pay to pre-board so we took up an overhead compartment just for his tux and my dress which was bulky.  Once at the resort, we had them both steamed the day before the wedding.

I wasn't aware of airplanes closets.

I folded mine with curved creases to avoid harsh wrinkles. It fitted nicely into a hard shell carry-on suitcase with only the dress, shoes, jewelry inside.  Arriving at the hotel I used the steamer setting on the iron to removed some minor wrinkles. It got further steam cleaned when it got stored by our wedding co-coordinator.

:) Keep the iron at least one inch away from the fabric if you are using it to steam.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
