How Many Days Before Are You Arriving?

Recommended Posts

We arrived on Saturday and married on Wednesday. Originally we had planned to arrive Sunday but the airline cancelled the flight. It was perfect. We only met with the wedding coordinator for 1 hour tops. Didn't take too much away from anything. We met her the Monday am.

Yeah the wedding coordinator meeting doesn't take long because you'll prob. have it mostly planned out by that point.  We arrived Sunday and had the wedding on Friday - Pros were that everyone knew each other really well and our whole week kind of led up to the wedding. Con is that I spent more time stressing about it and had less time to relax after

Agree. But for me I honestly was shocked at how much my type A didn't get in the way. The only thing I worried about was the hair appt time but I changed that myself and I am glad I did lol. We started at 10 and arrived back at about 130. That said the girls all decided to have makeup done and then we had lunch at the spa restaurant.

What things did you wish you would have re arranged?

I sat at the head table and laughed I worried about vases and frames lol. We had a few minor blips but I will post about those. Very minor.

They have wifi. I had to pay and it's pricey but on a 6 hour flight it keeps me entertained.

@@calgarybride2015 - I was like 6 hours (!) but then I remembered you're in Calgary

I didn't notice anything at all the day of the wedding. Happy drunked wedded bliss :).  I agree the day of you don't notice any of the vases or frames but I think they do add to the overall atmosphere and when you see how nicely they look in your pics, you'll be glad you spent the time on them :).

Hindsight I wish I had touched up my makeup a bit before the reception and just little decor things that literally no one but me notices :)

I'm curious to hear when other couples are arriving to their wedding locations prior to a symbolic (non-legal) ceremony.

We are having a Saturday wedding and have been planning on arriving Wednesday.  I have been under the impression that we'd meet with the WC on Thursday morning.  Most of our guests are arriving on Thursday and now I'm contemplating if we should arrive on Tuesday for an extra day of planning time, scoping out the resort, and possibly meeting with the WC a day or two earlier.

I'd love to hear your plans.  Thanks!

Exactly how ours works!

We are arriving on Wednesday and the wedding is on Saturday. We are staying for ten nights total, but we definitely wanted more time after the wedding so we could relax and enjoy. Almost all of our guests are coming on Wednesday or Thursday.

Just be sure to check with your resort regarding how far in advance you have to be there. Even for a symbolic wedding most resorts require two days and some require three.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
