Kcole123 Planning Thread - April 17, 2015 - Melia Caribe Tropical

Recommended Posts

a). My nightmares started last week

B). I'm definitely going to be a blubbering mess! I picture all my pictures with me having ugly crying face. That is part of the reason why I don't want a videographer! I don't need to see that...ha

c). Report back on your eyelash extensions! I would love to do this but I'm chicken. I'm definitely going to at least do eyelash tinting but if you have a good experience maybe I'll try it.

d). The bikini wax is well worth it if you're going to be in a bathing suit for a week. It is not fun, I won't lie, but definitely worth it!

@@beckys98 I will def. let you know how the eye lash extensions go for sure. I can't wait to see what they will look like.

What a minute you are chicken to get eyelash extensions but weren't for the bikini wax? That doesn't sound right..haha

Oh question about the bikini wax: Is there a certain kind of waxing that isn't as painful as another? Stupid question but trying to find out the one I should be asking for when I book. If there is such a thing?

@@kcole123 - Good point, but it is a different kind of fear at least! Haha! I'm mostly worried about them looking bad or killing my actual lashes and having bald eyelids at my wedding :)

Yes, I have had 2 different kinds of wax. I have NO CLUE what the technical terms for them are. One where they put the wax one, apply a strip and pull. The other where they apply the wax, it hardens, and then the just pull the wax. To be honest, I think the pain was the same with both. I think some people say the kind without the strip is better. Just make sure you have enough growth (much better to be too long than too short). And take some ibuprofen before you go!

@@TinkerSofi, Oh we are hot messes! I'm sure all of us will look stunning on our wedding days. Thankfully, OTC Melatonin helps me sleep :)

I am worried about looking sunburned in my photos! I keep going back and forth on tanning vs spray tan vs tons of sunblock... I know @@kcole123 is going tanning. What about you?

I'm going the tanning route. If you check out my profile picture you can see that spray tanning will not help me at all, and the sun in August over there is super strong. I'm also bringing tons of sunscreen and putting like a timer to reapply, especially on my face since the nose is the first thing to burn. I'll have to be careful and wear a hat all the time and things like that, but I think with a base tan I should be ok. I do tan, thankfully, but it has to be pretty slow and gradual so I have to hit the tanning bed before going.

Living in Canada doesn't help. By the time I go to a tropical destination I'm basically as white as I was when I was born haha. When I lived in Argentina you never get that white during the winter, but here winters are very long, and the sun in the summer still isn't as strong.

I would suggest not going for hard wax (the one that they pull off the wax, vs. the one that has a fabric strip). For some reason that seems to hurt more. For hard wax they need to put a thicker layer of wax so it doesn't break when they rip it off, maybe that's why it's more painful. Most places use the one with the fabric strips nowadays.

You can also take a painkiller like advil before going (something that doesn't thin your blood though), it might help with the pain a little ;) and if you can get recommendations from anyone that would be awesome. There's some people out there that are very good at waxing and it really minimizes the pain, and others not so much, and it hurts more. One day, my aesthetician was sick, but I really needed to get my brazilian done so I went with someone else. She was so rough that I had little bruises down there the next day, and not to mention that it hurt going to the bathroom :(. Not to scare you, but if you hear good things about someone book with them ;)

Ok, I think I am going to go the tanning route, too. That's what I did all of the other times before going to Mexico and never burned...I'd hate to burn on my weddingmoon!

....Waxing.. I want to, but I have a very limited pain threshold...

This is also a very ridiculous question (it's ok to laugh), how do they do a bikini wax...or more? Do you just lay down butt naked and then they pour hot wax on you and rip it off???

PS my cup photos are posted!!!  :D  :D  :D  :D  :D

It depends where you go but if you get normal bikini (no brazilian) you can usually just move your underwear to one side and they'll wax that part.

For bazilian, in some places they'll put a towel on you and move the towel around to only show the part they're waxing, but essentially yes, you're naked haha. It is kind of awkward the first time :P, I prefer going to younger aestheticians, otherwise I picture my mom and I can only imagine what she'd be thinking hahaha, it just makes it that much more awkward. Also, at some points you have to get into really weird positions haha (like lifting your leg up, etc) but I keep thinking "they see this all the time". The girl I go to says that it's really not a big deal to her, it's just her job.

Yeah that's basically it by what I have heard. I haven't any experience with this waxing business but I will find out. My duty tonight is to try to find a good salon in Edmonton that has good reviews on this (if I can find them).

I will have a look at your cups now.

@@TinkerSofi, girl. I'm just going to think of you as the waxing expert, now hahaha.

Oh wow. haha. But, I guess it's just the same as me taking care of a patient and seeing them completely naked. What about sensitive skin, such as myself.. have you heard of or experienced a rash or anything similar to razor burn afterwards? I don't want that to happen if I end up doing this...

....I am literally laughing as I am writing this

I don't know if that's the reputation I want but if it helps someone else it's all good haha. I was really scared the first time I tried it too. I thought it would be the most painful experience ever but it wasn't as bad as I thought. My aesthetician actually talked me into it one day :P.

I know, it's weird at first even talking about it hahah. I had a few surgeries around my tailbone area that took a long time to heal and I had a few problems with, so let's just say that a LOT of professionals saw my butt and I feel like i've become somewhat desensitized to it now haha.

I used to get more of a rash the first few times I did it. I guess it's kind of like threading your eyebrows that way, the more you do it the less your skin reacts to it. Sometimes I'd get like little pimples afterwards but nothing too major. I have sensitive skin too so it's red for a few hours (no matter how much I've done it). My legs actually look like I have the measles after waxing hahah, and I've been waxing my legs since I was 12. The redness lasts like 3 or 4 hours, then it starts getting better :)

I so love reading these threads. You ladies give me my giggle for the day. You're also a whole lot braver than I am!!! Waxing?? Really? OUCH!!! I probably shouldn't say that. My stomach looks like a road map with all the surgery scars. You would think waxing would be easy as pie but it takes me 3 days to get over having my eyebrows done so anywhere else? Uummmm nope. Not matter what there is only one way to spell C H I C K E N! And that's me! lmao

The other thing. I promise you will all NOT be hot messes on your wedding day. It will be over before you know it and you'll wonder what all the fuss was about. With all of the careful planning I've seen here, you're all going to have beautiful weddings!! I can't wait to see all the pictures!!

    • OMG these are incredible! Seriously blown away by the thoughtful detail you have put into every aspect of your gifts, your guests are going to be amazed! Props to you for adding so many personal touches and putting in so much time to make these gifts amazing!
    • These bags are amazing!! You are so organized and detailed, I am so impressed! I LOVE the Vistaprint stuff you ordered, the logo is so cute, I love your personalization!
    • I love etsy!! It's a great place to find personalized gifts without such a hefty price tag. I was thinking of getting my bridesmaids personalized necklaces with their names on them. I found these ones that are affordable and you can pick the chain length and different fonts, so you can really make them your own and pick what you know each bridesmaid will want. https://www.etsy.com/listing/595334072/personalized-name-necklace-stainless?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=personalized necklace&ref=sc_gallery-3-9&plkey=a8662525c53ec285c1b46b0f308162d0591edff8:595334072
    • Hi everyone, I am so happy that I am getting married to the love of my life. He proposed me and we are getting married within in a couple of months. And I have started preparations for my big day. I am super excited about a lot of things and also worried about many things.I have some inhibitions about my face and skin. Since I am a working woman, I have never got much time for personal care. This is the right time for it now. I need  proper medical grade skin care. Want to improve my skin tone and texture  I read some details about it here, https://www.mcleanclinic.com/nonsurgical-procedures/non-surgical/skin-care/, and found it really helpful. Can anyone of you suggest me some more tips? Like what I can do at home to have a glow on my face?  Thanks in advance.
    • I think you should approach the dentist. That would be the best idea as of now.
