Nothing in Canada has to be legalized for your symbolic abroad. They don't ask nor care :) They just don't recommend you go and legally change your name because you need your passport and travel documents to match for ease of flying.

Well,

I didn't make it to my second dress fitting. I was so sick this past weekend that I had to call and let them know I couldn't make it and had to re-book. I so didn't want to do this because I knew I only have 56 days now until the wedding. So they got me in for my second dress fitting now March 5th and the final dress fitting is a week and 2 days after that. Oh my I am feeling nervous because my second dress fitting was to measure for the hemming.  Hope it all works out ok and that they have plenty of time.

Nothing new happening here. I am still waiting to send off my paperwork to the resort. I figure I will do that in the next couple of weeks. They seem to be in no rush for it.

Not much else happening in the way of planning other than have to still get the groomsmen's watches, all the appointments I have lined up, and emailing the resort.

I started tanning two days ago. I hate tanning beds/booths just because I have done it so much in my early 20's and really regret that. I haven't done it now for a long time and it makes me nervous. I figure I would do this just to add some colour and so I won't burn when I step on the resort and especially because I have 4 days there before the wedding.

Hope everything and all planning is going good for everyone else.

Will keep you posted if anything new comes up.

Don't worry about your dress. She didn't do my final hem until early January! They know their deadline :)

It's so funny how the resort wants the paperwork but does nothing with it until like a week before! Haha!

I tanned a couple times but got lazy. I just used a lot of sunscreen and changed up my suits. It was January though. So between a pre tan and sunscreen I think you'll do great :)

Can't wait for more!!!

I think you'll be fine with the deadline. I'm sure they're used to working under pressure from time to time. For now just rest up and try not to worry about it :).

I personally hate tanning, in a tanning bed or outside, I get very impatient, but unless I want to look like a lobster on my wedding I'm going to have to. I'm so white, it's actually pretty scary hahah (check out my profile picture, yikes :P).

@@kcole123 I'm exactly the same on tanning - I really should not have tanned as much as I did in my 20s because now I have wrinkled! And my fair skin is "high risk" as my doctor tells me. However, I also plan to start tanning a couple months before and just do it really gradually. Like @@TinkerSofi I think it really is in my best interest. I'd also be a lobster!

I hope you're feeling better! Like the other ladies have said, I don't think you need to be worried about your alterations. I'm sure they'll be done on time.

I'm Filipino so no need to pre-tan beforehand. Good thing since I'm terribly claustrophobic and would hate to have to go on those tanning beds!

Hey girls. I just have a little update for you. I got the quote back from Carribean Celebrations. I thought it was a little expensive but Nathan refuses for us to being anything else down there. (He thinks the tumblers is crazy enough).

Anyway I have 26 adults and 3 children. I will need four tables. So therefore I will need 4 floral centre pieces (small), 4 table clothes, napkins for everyone, and those lantern lighting things for around the boat. This quote came to $848.00 US. So with the exchange rate its close to $1000. I figured it would be this much actually. Buying or making centre pieces here is out of the question so I guess I am getting them with Carribean Celebrations. Centre pieces are always more expensive. Oh and I am also getting a table cloth for the cake table as well.

I am trying to keep costs down as much as I can but it seems it's always tough to do that. Either make stuff here and pay for that and then pay for lugging it down there. Not including the hassle. Or pay the price and buy it down there. Either way it's all money.

Refresh my memory. Is the reception right on the boat or is this an excursion as side from the wedding?

Edit - reception on boat. In that case I can see you paying the cost if it's too much to bring down! If it was an after party I'd say no.

There is no way you can bring some of the decor yourself? Mine took no room as they were flat (vases popped up) and nothing was breakable. Also can you use your BM bouquets as centerpieces if they have them? Just trying to help.

Yeah it's the reception that's on the boat.

That's a great idea Kim using the bouquets as centre pieces. You are just awesome. All I need is something to put them in. That will cut back a little for sure. Now I have to figure something out to put them in. Nathan said he doesn't want to see me with anything else to bring down hahaha. I feel we have too much now and those damn tumblers are going to take up the space. Any other suggestions Kim? This works out great. Why didn't I think of that. I have four BM bouquets and will have 4 tables. Works out great.

I love your reception on the boat!! We once pondered that idea but too many people scared of boats! Lol

That's what I did with my BM bouquets and I ordered an extra to have enough. The stems were too long so my WC cut them down after the ceremony to fit in the vases I had brought.

If you find something non breakable it's possible he won't notice as they can be shoved in anywhere hehe.

Flowers seem to cost the most. If you skipped flowers would they rent you a vase? That should be cheaper OR maybe ask if they have a large glass/drinking cup that could be used as a vase. As I imagine your bouquets aren't huge by any means.

Haha that may be a terrible suggestion but throwing out ideas.

Also if you wanna add a pop of color to the table yourself those decorative beads/gems are a great idea and cheap!!

More thoughts lol

You can also bring 2 carry ones each. I had a large personal bag and a roller suitcase. That's a good way to get more baggage for free. I flew ACV but I assume most are similar.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
