Riv Maya Time Change 2/1/15

Recommended Posts

That's a really short change, to March 8th?  If so, then it doesn't affect my wedding on the 14th (whew).

I'm not sure of your time zone but for me here on the east coast, yes a very short change. I find it really odd that they aren't doing Daylight Savings any longer. How random lol

I started to get a bit nervous but my WC actually emailed me just as I was thinking about it and told me about it and explained that because of my Daylight a Savings time, the time zones would only sync for about a month and then go back to an hour difference. She did mention that my ceremony may be warmer than it would have been previously, but I will also have more light for photos. She told me I could change the timeline if I wanted to, but at this point I have itineraries printed etc. and think more time for photos is a definite bonus.

I agree!  Especially as the sunset pictures in Cancun aren't as good as say Cabo, due to the sun setting in the west.  I think it'll also be good as the reception will have a little longer light, which is all good for pictures!

This is confusing me so much I feel dumb haha. Our ceremony is at 5 right now, so I should move it to 6 if I want the sun in the same position, right? Otherwise 5pm after February will be hotter than 5pm right now.

@@marinah84 I thought I read that the time won't go back. Where did you read that it's only until March?

Hello wedding planners! This was a sudden change for everyone down here and there is still some confusion with some, don't be too hard on your coordinators. :D

This is a good thing, longer days, more sunlight! Basically we'll be on daylight savings all year to have some wonderful sun time. You may consider moving your times to get those sunset pics or avoid the heat, but do remember that if your date is during the "regular" daylight savings time, you won't be affected anyway. Sunset pictures are a bit more complicated here as we are on the east coast, but definitely possible to do! Your photographer should know the best time/place for that perfect photo. In Cancun, the lagoon offers INCREDIBLE sunsets!

It is sooo confusing!!! I consider myself a fairly intelligent person and I keep finding myself going...wait...what?!!! lol

but yes if you wanted the exact same sun position, effect, temperature...you would want to move it forward one hour.

Sorry if I confused everyone about the March thing. I only meant that for me on the east coast, after March 8th it will go back to a one hour difference because we will move our clocks forward an hour. February 1st Quintana Roo will set their clocks to my time and never observe Daylight Savings so for about a month, that area of Mexico and Eastern Standard time will be the same. Then after March 8th Eastern time will be one hour later, so it will go back to what I am used to and it won't effect my flight times, just the ceremony temperature and sunlight.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
