@@mexiwedding I am so sorry to hear what happened at your wedding. I have also been assigned Yanin and have had nothing but terrible service from her. I complained to her boss Barbara and I was basically told I'm stuck with her. She never replies in a timely manner and then when she finally does, she doesn't answer any of my questions. She has also sent me the wedding planning spreadsheet numerous times after we've agreed in things but every time I get it, its missing info. So freaking frustrating!!!

And I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news but Yanin was not fired. I got an email from her on 6/9/16 @8:30pm asking me to fill out my wedding spreadsheet again!!! If someone at the resort told you she was fired last week, they straight lied to you. That is deceptive.

I have not trusted Yanin from Day One but I'm stuck with her and am trying to make the best of a crappy situation. My wedding is in December and I'm really hoping she either gets her stuff together or replaced.

You basically confirmed all my destination wedding fears.

@@Maurindy2016 I can't say too much per attorney advice but I will disclose we had two people , my brother & my husband, get hurt due to the resorts negligence. My brother was sent to the ER via a cab he had to pay for and then was told the resort would fill his scrips for him when he returned once again in the cab he paid for and he was given expired scripts. My husband spent two days trying to see the medic and was sent a lifeguard that basically brushed it off until the infection got so bad the he couldn't walk. We waited outside the medic office for hours and had to force her to stop And see him and she also sent him to the ER again in cabs we had to pay for. They gave us all tons of fake apologies an offers to give whatever we needed to be more comfortable since my husband could barely walk around the rest of our honeymoon and the smallest requests were basically ignored.

I'm so sorry to read this. My experience was so great. We had Ludzary. We had some minor glitches, and T the beginning the time to get back was slow.

What I learned was send one email at a time. Bullet point questions number them.

Wait to send another email with more questions till you get that back. They do get confused by that. Once I started that communication answering was a week to two. And then once I got a month before it was faster.

We met the coordinator the second day of our stay. She walked through everything. I made a ton of things and walked through that. They took everything. A day after the wedding they brought everything to me. I actually left a ton of stuff. I didn't need to bring back. I gave it to the maids.

Hair and makeup no issues either. I didn't do a trial. I told them what I wanted and that I wear light makeup. The only thing was the person who I had for the appt was sick so they got someone from excellence. I think because I didn't do anything special it was good. I brought fake lashes and they did that.

I have heard photo studio doesn't change packages anymore. I got lucky cause they did my trash the dress for the 24 photos. I also had my own photographer I brought from home for the 3 days and he took photos too while they were. To me it was worth the expense.

My friend is getting married there next August they were at our wedding. I'm hoping they don't have the issues. I know my other friend on here has Yanin and I even emailed Barbara and said I recommend both couples and that it is very disappointing that they are getting this treatment. And that if I was them and could move the wedding I would.

Sorry guys I hope it changes with the bad reviews.

My mother in law fell the first day in the shower they are very slippery.

She went to the hospital. They paid all the bills and cabs meds etc. we also had the insurance. We had a two year old so I got insurance no matter what. She had to get surgery when we came home.

Lawyers told us dive out of the country they really couldn't do much.

My opinion they should have compd her trip. They really didn't do much on that side. We had to move to the gazebo cause she was in a wheel chair and the beach would not have been a good choice. They made that happen no problem. This all changed the day before the wedding. Her knee was pretty messed up.

They met the guests in the bar area they like to do this before the wedding and walk the guest to the wedding area. So if your doing a wedding flyer add that you'll let the guest know before the wedding where to meet.

We saw the medic cause he has a habit of getting ear infections. No problems at all we did pay a payment to see the medic.

@Robersonpartyof2 I noticed you used Katie HK for decor. Where did you meet her to pick it up? Just outside the gates? Did you end up renting lights from her as well? And did the WC give you any trouble for setting it up for you?

We are hopefully going to use her, too!

Thank you!

Actually, if you use an outside vendor you must pay the $$$$ fee. But with Katy I met a "friend" that was bringing me a gift out side the gate and she had everything packed in suitcases. Cheaper decor and no vender fee. The wedding planner thought I brought everything with me from home not that it was a "vendor"

The lights were included with me las Dunas deck package. And no they set up everything for free.

Anyone know how the decorations works ?   I am bringing things to decorate our welcome table, table numbers, etc.  When does set up start?  And can I have friends supervise or help decorate?  After the review from @@mexiwedding I'm afraid my WC will not follow through :(

Lastly, anyone know the resort themes for each day of the week this month?

They do the deco during the day. No real set time. I sat with my WC and showed her the table set up, my center pieces needed to be set a certain way. I had a photo of the finish look I did it at home before to do that. Everything else was pretty straight forward. I gave her a floor plan of table numbers to go with what I made and I also had signs for the wedding ceremony I made and the readings I put on big cards for the readers. I brought table runners I did wood tables no table cloths. I also had setup for my welcome party. I brought table cloths that were the color of my wedding and I also had candles.

I had photos for everything

For those of you considering Katy HK, I just got an email from her with pricing. Although her items are inexpensive ($2-$10 an item), she has now implemented a minimum rental amount of $750 plus delivery/pick up fees of $130. She said the minimum fee was implemented for new customers after April 16, 2016.

Has anyone had any experience with Styling Trio for hair and makeup? The horror stories I'm hearing about in house salon not knowing how to do Asian makeup is making me look for professionals.

Great advice!  Thank you, I will definitely set up my table at home and take pictures of where I want everything to go.   They just need to match it up!

Do you remember the size/dimension of that welcome table and the bride/groom?

Did anyone pay to have their welcome bags delivered to the guests rooms?  I wasn't going to do that, but I wanted guests to get it right when they check in, I feel like it makes it feel like they're appreciated.  My concern is of course, they don't, or worse give it to the wrong guests?

I am having a welcome party on Thursday, the night before our wedding day, and I dont want to wait til then for early arrivals to get and enjoy?

Thanks everyone for all the input.  I thought destination wedding planning would be easier than local planning, but my goodness.

1. We ordered tables we did all rectangle tables. Most sat 12 with 2 or 3 that did 10 these are pretty standard sizes.

Our table was smaller it was called the sweetheart table.

2. Welcome bags. Two options 1 you greet your guests and give them the bags. 2. Pay and let them do this. If your having something the first day your guests are coming tell them ahead of time. Gift bags could go anytime they get delivered to the room not given at check in. Some guests got them 9pm but they did get them the first day. It was easy to do this because I did not want to sit in the hall and wait for people to arrive. You have no idea how long it will take them to get from the airport to the hotel. We did this one day with only 5 guests attending and I waited 2 hours. For me it was worth the delivery. No issues all made it to the rooms. But I would tell your guest the itinerary before they go at least for the day they are arriving. It will resolve confusion and stress. We had a Facebook group so everyone had an idea.

The more stuff you do and put together the more you have to manage. We kept it very simple very easy. So stress levels really were at minimum. Not a lot that anyone could mess up.

Hi,

We're getting married at Finest in September after falling in love with it during a stay last June.

Due to poor communication when we booked our wedding date we couldn't have our reception at Las Dunas so we are now going to be having it at the new Wedding Deck Venue. Has anyone had their wedding there by any chance? Or seen any events there?

I have found the communication from the hotel following our stay a bit slow and patchy and after a huge hiccup due to the communication issues things seem back on track. However i have struggled with knowing what is fully included with their Excellence package when it comes to lighting at the venue/table clothes etc. If anyone can help i would appreciate it as with every email i don't get any answers or photos.

We're really excited to get married at Finest following an amazing stay last year. I just wish the information they provided was more indepth and better so i wasnt so anxious about it.

Thanks so much in advance :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
