Just a couple questions for the past brides!

1. What was the bar set up like that was provided by the hotel? Trying to decide if we need to rent out.

2. How were the flowers that were included with your package?

3. Did you do anything for a welcome/rehearsal for all your guests? I am having a hard time swallowing $28 pp for 100 people when its an all inclusive to begin with for just 2 hours of cocktails!

4. Did anyone use Seasons Tours to rent a catamaran for a day? Just looking for feedback.

Thanks in advance!

Hi. Robin, here's what I did for my wedding:

1.  Skybar reception.  There was a bar up there full stocked w/ liquor and 2-3 bartenders, just like bars at any club/lounge.  It was nice and we didnt need to do anything extra. Where is your reception?

2. Flowers:  I got gold package, I only got flowers from the groom, groomsmen, and they give me as part of the package, a bouquet of flowers. I ended up using it as flowers for the podium at the ceremony.  I didnt think it looked that great, colors were to bright for my liking (green and pinks).

3. Welcome Party:  we held a welcome party at Lizo restaurant the day before wedding.  Buffy style, the food was good.  I don't think they charged us for it either.  Just say you want to reserve a restaurant for all your guests to meet at.

4. sorry we didnt have enough time to do a catamaran.  there was already tons of stuff to do on the resort.

* If you want to see pictures of some of the wedding details , flowers, etc, that I used, feel free to email me pharmdiva07@@gmail.com.  happy to help!

Robin-how did your site visit go? Did you meet with Victor?

I am also looking in to renting a catamaran for a group excursion. I got a quote from Liam Dodd who I found on a Facebook group. The price seems pretty reasonable. Let me know if you want the price, I can email them to you.

Also, I am planning to have the ceremony in the Skybar. I want to set up an area for cigars for the guys, but don't really want to rent lounge chairs. Did you happen to see if they have chairs already at the sky bar?

What time should I book my hair appointment for? The ceremony is at 3 and I will be doing my makeup after my hair.

For those brides who used an outside photographer and videographer, what did you do with the in-house ones that were included in your package? My Gold package includes 24 photos of the ceremony and 15 minutes of raw unedited footage. I hired my own photo and video who will cover this. I contacted Beach Wedding Studios (in house at Finest) to see if they could photograph/video something else but they said no but I should contact them when I arrive to see if they can do something for me then. I'm assuming they will try to upsell me on something. I guess my question is, I think I will end up with two photo and two video for the ceremony. Did the in-house get in the way of your hired vendor?

@@mcjfam3 Our site visit went amazing. Victor exceeded our expectations, and I left there feeling very comfortable and confident in his ability! We are doing a Catamaran for 24 people with Seasons Tours, who pick you up right down the beach at the Beloved. Its a 7 hour excursion to Isla Mujeres.

Also, has anyone made a larger reservation at one of the restaurants for the rehearsal dinner? We are doing an hour cocktail party at the Sky Bar, but then we are trying to decide if we go to dinner with our family, or mingle with guests, even though we wanted to give them a free night to enjoy the restaurants.

That is great news!!!

Were any brides able to get the resort to waive the outside vendor fee to hire an airbrush makeup company? Their spa doesn't offer this service and I can't seem to get Victor to waive the $500 outside vendor fee.

Been meaning to get around to writing on this page.

We got married 3.5 weeks ago on Saturday, December 17th and it was wonderful! We had Alejandra as our coordinator and although initial interactions via email were rocky, on site she was on top of everything and great to work with. We had our ceremony at the Stone Gazebo and the cocktail hour and reception at the Grand Palapa. The weather was perfect, the food was good, the drinks were flowing, the Mexican Trio was great and Mannia DJ played everything we wanted. The night flew by so fast and I wish it lasted longer. We brought all of our own decorations and rented the large chandelier, fabrics and 10 person lounge set from Alquimia.

@@robynm10 We had a rehearsal dinner with just the wedding party and immediate family. We worked with the head of F&B Mr. Cambrinas on securing the private room at Le Petit Plaisir but we only had 20 people in our group. If it was more, I'm not sure if they could have accommodated without paying for a private dinner. The private room at Shoji only holds 12 people. We didn't have anything planned for our guests during the entirety of their trip except our wedding since we wanted them to enjoy their vacation and do whatever they wanted. We had our rehearsal dinner and then told our guests to meet us in the Golden Bar afterwards.

@@mcjfam3 We were told makeup artists vendor fee was $150 earlier last year. Make sure Victor is not making a mistake. For outside photographer, videographer, decorators, wedding planners, they charge a $500 vendor fee per company. I was really scared the spa could not do my hair and makeup as I wanted so I had trials done at home and brought photos as well as my own makeup for them to use on me. I wanted simple hair and makeup so I don't think it was too hard to mess up.

Let me know if you have more questions I can answer since its still fresh in the mind.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
