Hi all!

Wondering what everyone is doing for centerpieces. The centerpiece catalog they provided doesn't have great photos and from what I've seen from stalking the internet, the arrangements are smaller than I expected. I've been going back & forth with Cecilia from Alquimia Events but everything seems really expensive. I'm already doing the white rectangular tables and bringing my own patterned runners, so I don't think I need too much but I also don't want to get arrangements and be disappointed.

If anyone has recommendations - catalog vs alquimia (or anything else) - it would be much appreciated!

Thanks!!

Jordan

We purchased lanterns from Ikea and brought them down with us. Put a candle inside. Tea lights on the table and added shells and fake rose petals on the runner.

@@MrsDuru16 we booked before they opened so we may have had an even bigger discount. My friend booked them for a wedding in Dec of this year and she went with DW also. Lots of plus's like perks and not having to book your own guests. Worth the $50.

@@jordanj I picked floral centerpieces from the catalog. With only 4 tables and ours being free I felt it was worth the money. I picked the one pictured below in the colors in the 2nd pic.post-284282-145850796433_thumb.jpgpost-284282-145850798716_thumb.jpg

I'm always using a company in Mexico for homeade table decor/favors and they have been fabulous and very reasonable for the handmade quality:

@@mexiwedding wow! Yeah 10+ tables is a lot! Maybe something homemade is better since you need so many. Maybe use coral, starfish, sand dollars, small candles & ribbon in your wedding colors to keep it light (weight wise) for easy travel. I do know they'll set up whatever you provide for them

hi Jordan,

We are expecting about 50-60 ppl, and I opted to do rectangular tables (seats 16 ppl) and having garland of flowers and greenery on each table w/ votives ($568 each).  I figured it looked better than getting a bunch of smaller centerpeices, and I would need more tables and centerpieces, thus would cost less as a whole.

Hope that helps. I was not too impressed with their centerpieces either, and did not want to upgrade by going to then ext pricing category since we can't take them home with us or anything after the reception.  Hope this helps.

Any body doing their wedding ceremony at the stone gazeob?  What did you do for decoration?  Based on pictures posted earlier, I felt like the palm tree tropical background was nice enough, nothing much added.  Did anyone pay for extra flowers there?

And anyone doing a sparkler exit?  I really want to do one, but they said to use their DJ Mannia to get the sparklers, charging $60 for 30 sparklers....

Just curious what everyone is doing....

@@Maurindy2016 I am getting married at the Stone Gazebo! Yanin just confirmed that the decorations that are included are rose pedals, seashells/starfish OR candles (I opted for candles), a brown-ish aisle runner. I don't plan on adding anything extra since the area and view are just so gorgeous!

They said that if you do center pieces for your reception, that they can bring a couple of those centerpieces for you to use during your ceremony as well.

I really want to do a sparkler exit as well but not sure if it is still possible since we have moved our reception into the ballroom. They actually told me the cost was $160 for 30 sparklers, though after seeing that you were only quoted $60 maybe they did a typo to me??? I thought $160 was insane!!!

Sorry, It was a typo...it is $160/30 sparklers.  Ridiculous.

@mexiwedding:  Thanks for that information about the gazebo.  I am glad to know they are giving us something at least. I didn't plan on adding any additional floral décor or anything to the stone gazebo b/c from pictures it looks like the tropical background was nice.  I did upgrade my chairs to gold tiffani chivari chairs.

Trying to get info on the kids menu.  Anyone doing that or know any information??

@@SusanMarie813 Great idea. I will look for that posting on this thread. Did you just take a taxi to go pick them up? I recall you saying your coordinator may have helped with that.

Were you able to negotiate prices or any extras? Since we are bringing them so much business I am trying to negotiate prices or extra services but it is not as effective to negotiate over email. They don't seem open to setting up time to talk on the phone. Did you all basically just plan via email too?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
