Secrets Maroma/planner 1 Events

Recommended Posts

Hello,

We are excitedly counting down the days until our July 18, 2015 wedding at Secrets Maroma Beach Rivera Cancun!

I posted in the Secrets Maroma thread but there doesn't seem to be too much activity there.

I was referred to Gabi at Planner 1 Events by the Wedding Cordinator at Secrets Maroma.   It took Gabi a few weeks to respond to my initial email and it has now been 2 weeks since I sent her my questionnaires and I haven't heard back.  I understand that Wedding Coordinators at resorts are very busy and can only imagine the same for planning companies.  But in my opinion, two weeks seems like a little long for a outside planning company to respond.

Does anyone have an experience with either Secrets Maroma or Planner 1 Events that they can share?   I'm also interested to know if 2+ weeks is the norm for vendors outside of resorts to respond.

Thanks!

Hey!! I am getting married there in April!!

I just got i contact with her and it kind of took a few emails to get a response. Then were emailed back and forth a few times and since Friday I haven't heard back....The waiting game can be very frustrating!! 2 weeks is ridiculous. If I don't here anything in 2 to 3 days I email AGAIN and AGAIN!

@@FutureMrsNash I'm so happy to hear from someone else getting married there!  Are you working with Cecilia as well?  I'm waiting to hear back on Gabi about pricing.  What are you using Planner 1 for?  Looking forward to hearing about your day! :)

What you're saying is a very common thread throughout this site! lol For someone not overly familiar with the process it can definitely be frustrating! Firstly, this time of the year is one of the busiest for destination weddings. It may sound cliché but since your wedding isn't until July, the coordinators will be busy with the brides that are ahead of you. I do want to reassure you and say that the WCs at these resorts know their stuff. It's what they do for a living. They aren't ignoring you. Your planning won't really kick into high gear until a couple of months before your wedding. That's a bit intimidating for brides from the US and canada that are used to the amount of detail that is needed for a wedding at home. Definitely if you haven't heard after a couple of weeks, send the email again. Another tip is to try to put your questions into one email rather than sending an email with one question, then another. That makes it a bit easier for the coordinator to go through and give you your answers all together.

Good luck and happy planning!

  • 1 month later...

Well it certainly is helpful to see this thread here, I'm getting married at Secrets Maroma in December so i have a bit of time I'm also working with Cecilia and I just got put in contact with the Wedding 1 Planners and the DJ.

I'm really more  concerned with their in-house DJ and would love to know if any of you  have any info to share about him.

This is #1 on the priority list for me.

Thanks so much ladies and happy planning! :-)

Hello wedding planners!

Greetings and salutations from Playa del Carmen, sending you all some warmth if you are suffering from winter blues!

With regards to vendors and response time, it is unfortunate that often the priority is placed on brides that have closer wedding dates. During high season they may be totally overwhelmed too! That said, we have always had positive experiences working with Planner 1 and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. Just send them a little nudge email as a reminder that they are overdue in responding. :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
