Hi everyone!

I am a former BDW bride (Puerto Vallarta 2008). I am now a bridesmaid for a DW in August which will be held at Barcelo Maya Palace. All guests are staying next door at Barcelo Maya Tropical and I have been trolling around for sometime reading reviews.

I want to know if anyone can refer me to a Tour Operator where we can arrange a group tour (or tours). As Barcelo is only 9 miles or so from Xcaret, we are trying to price out the cost of buying a package from the hotel vs pre-purchasing tickets direclty on the website and arranging our own transportation (either by charter bus or taxi).

The bride and groom are expecting anywhere between 125-150ppl.

Thanks in advance!

Typically the transfer companies. I can't remember if we last used cancun shuttle or cancun transfers but we got a credit towards any excursion. We went to Selvatica, Selvatica is similar to Xcaret and they provide transportation as well. We had a great time and plan to do it as an excursion for our bridal party the day after the wedding as a thank you instead of gifts.

Not sure if you are Canadian or American, but if from Canada your tour operator used for your travel booking will also have a person at your resort would handles excursion. They can certainly send you info prior to arrival so you can plan activities

We've used Cancun Transfers just for transportation, and were happy with them. Also Olympic Tours or Lomas are two more tour operators there in Cancun that I've had experience with and would suggest looking into.

    • I have stayed at Dreams La Romana and Dreams Dominicus.  The two resorts are very different in style and decor. A few comparison points are below and fact sheets are attached for both.   Both resorts are approx 45 minutes from Punta Cana airport, close proximity to Saona Island, Catalina Island and Altos de Chavon. Top championship golf courses in the Caribbean are just minutes away including Teeth of the Dog, Dye Fore, The Links and La Estancia – all designed by world-famous Pete Dye. Restaurants are similar at both resorts.  Both offer the Explorers Club for Kids.  Dreams Dominicus  Brand new resort and in 2016 488 rooms (however additional construction was underway) More contemporary style & decor Good beach area Rooms were very nice Preferred Club located in main lobby and adjacent to main pool & beach front Food was good Center plaza area with nighttime entertainment Main lobby is small, but outdoor bar off lobby is nice Dreams La Romana Originally built in 2003 & opened as Dreams La Romana in 2008 756 rooms Recently renovated and new preferred club adults only lounge & pool added  Rooms are more traditional Caribbean decor Grounds are very lush and tropical Good beach area food was good    Dreams Dominicus fact sheet.pdf Dreams La Romana fact sheet.pdf
    • My sister has done it but with the destination wedding, only super close family members and friends came since it was expensive and farther. It was great though.
