Air Transat Carry On Luggage

@@calgarybride2015 - Yes ACV but Rouge.  They said they had no closet - not sure if this is true or not.  But I was allowed to board early so I just claimed a bin for myself and laid my dress and my husband's suit flat.  My family members/friends were surrounding me so it worked out okay - they put their bags in different bins

Is a bin truly big enough for a dress? I don't know what plane we have!! Good to know. I get to board first for 2 reasons - first class and have kids lol.

@@calgarybride2015 - We were sitting at the front of the plane where the bins were longer, so yes, it fit! I think I took up 2 bins actually haha. Right behind us the bins had the divisions. I think we were Rouge Plus or something like that

I am in the first row lol. That's all they had left of 2 seats side by side and this was back in the summer. Nuts hey? Anyways, I will hope we get that large bin too. Did you just stand there and tell people it's full? Shawn will have to do that because I'll have to get my kids settled. Hope that's not a nightmare as they've never flown before. I'll see if my TA knows what plane we are on.

@@calgarybride2015 - We were about a couple rows back from the very front.  We were sitting right beneath it with my parents across from us and family members behind us.  My mom just closed the bin after we laid the dress flat and anytime anyone tried to open it, she would stay "It's a wedding dress!"  My mom is fairly forceful - I love her haha.

I think AC do have closets though - we were on Rouge so not sure if it's different (or if she was just saying that).  Definitely ask about the closet

On the way back I didn't care anymore and just folded it up and put it in one of our empty suitcases

My dress was pretty poufy and it was more than enough space in the bins. Just make sure you board the plane first. When the flight attendants saw that I had the wedding dress, they let me board with the families and those who need assistance so I got it on right away before the bin space was gone. There was two of us who had our dresses and they didn't put anything on top of them or in the same bin so you should be ok.

Edit: Air Transat had one long bin as well, similar to ACR. The rest were divided but the one at the front had a long bin. You should be fine.. *breathe* :)

Thanks for starting this thread! We're also booked with Air Transat so far our contract from our TA states that an overhead bin is reserved for my wedding dress so glad to know it fits in there. We also get free seat selection so based on some of the tips, we'll try to go for the front seats if we can

Our plane with Air Canada didn't have the longer bins.  Thankfully there was a closet, but honestly it isn't a full sizes closet even for normal jackets lol, so my dress was scrunched up at the bottom.   I had a friend bring a travel steamer and once we figured out how to use it, it worked like a charm :)

Thais for the tip Kim, I'll make sure I bring a portable steamer. Though being short (5'0") may work in my favour!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
