Hi @@rebecca90

My Palace wedding planner contacted me a couple weeks after my wedding contract was completed. Then when I scheduled a site visit, the on site WC contacted me. My WC told me that I won't work with her again until about 3mos before the wedding. In the mean time I will wowkr with the wedding planner to schedule vendors and plan out my wedding day. Hope this helps.

  • 2 weeks later...

I'm February 2016 and a major planner... We already have over 80 people booked, our photographer, mariachi and venues reserved, our website up and running, our invites long since mailed and our OOT bags well under way. Next steps, ordering my dress!

@ Kmk2016 - where did you find your mariachi band? I'd love to have one for our cocktail hour however the resort is quoting $450 for 45 minutes!

So I've asked around on this site a little, and I'm a bit freaked out that there don't seem to be any recent brides at my resort....hopefully that's not a sign!!!

I think I'm in good shape planning-wise.  I have:

1. date and venue

2. wedding website

3. travel agent

4. photographer

5. wedding dress

6. color scheme

7. DJ (by that, I mean my ipod :) )

8. Wedding party outfits selected

9. save the dates sent out in April (1 year out)

10. invitations designed, but not ordered

11. approximately 1/2 of our guests have put down their deposits.

Right now, I'm really just trying to get an idea of what I want to do for decorations (i.e., what I can afford), and starting to look for Welcome Bags.  I'm getting married at the end of a long pier over the water, and I want to create some sort of backdrop.  I saw a DIY for making some hanging clay garlands that I like, but I don't want to block too much of the ocean view, and I worry about getting it down to Mexico without becoming a big tangled mess.  Thoughts?

Wow! I wouldn't worry about anything if I were you. You are so organized. I feel like you have more things in place than I do and my wedding is just about 2 months before yours :P I love the clay hanging backdrop! It looks like seashells almost! Its really pretty!

We are getting married June 7th, 2016 at Azul Fives. All we've done is book our resort (AF Sky Deck), sent STDs (44 booked - deadline is less than one week) and completed website.

We're going to start all our planning in July after my two best friends weddings are done :)

haha, thanks! I have these grand ideas about painting the clay ombre, but we'll see if I actually get around to it.  I had all this gas at the beginning because it felt like I had to get the resort locked down asap, but now I really just spend all my time on pinterest without making any more actual decor decisions.

Did you get any push back from guests regarding such an early deadline?  We only blocked off enough rooms for around half the amount of guests, and we're very close to having enough people put deposits down to start eating into the blocked rooms, but I feel like I'm hounding people!

@@LeighC yes, of coarse we did. I feel that is pretty standard and with a lot of people, understandable. Two weeks ago two of my male good friends got engaged and they ended up not booking because they didn't know when their weddings would be and how much spare cash they would have. On my FIs side, a lot of people are trying to have children. For that reason, a few said they would have to wait until closer to to book. Those are reasons I can totally understand. I think the most frustrating part are those people that don't have enough respect to respond back that they aren't coming. We sent a reminder email one month out, two weeks out and the day before our "fake" deadline. We are missing responses from A LOT of people.

Those closest to us understood that our resort is small and there is a reason we booked so far out. Those that haven't taken the time to read our website or ask, don't get it and that is likely why they haven't booked.

I sound so angry lol and that's because I kind of am. Very stressful time trying to get everyone booked.

One of our guests actually went out and got their own group rate and had people hold off booking with us. Didn't even tell us! That didn't go over well.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
