Barceló Maya Colonial Resort, Riviera Maya, Mexico.

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

My fiancé and I are new to this site. By joining this site we hope that we can find some helpful brides or couples that will make our wedding easier to plan.

Currently my fiancé and I are having major issues with our wedding coordinator Aurea. If you have worked with her before please let us know.

We are trying to email her with very basic English but it seems like every question we have has been left unanswered or misunderstood.

I am so stressed out, I am not sure what we are suppose to do. Our wedding is in Nov 2015. We still have a lot of time but we are already planning our wedding step by step and we are already stuck on the 2nd step because of major miscommunication and misunderstanding with our coordinator.

We would love to hear some positive feedbacks, advices or suggestions from you . How was your wedding at Colonial? How are you planning your wedding at Colonial?

Thank you guys so much

Ana xo

Our coordinator is Aurea. I agree that there is a slight language barrier but overall we haven't had any major issues and we've finished all our steps. What kind of issues are you having?

I am so happy you replied :)

My fiance and I need help with the menu... Were you able to figure it out?

No point forms no periods. you don't know where the dishes end or start.

We just tried to ask her that question and she gave us no answer. Also we asked her if we are able to change anything later on from the steps and she also didn't clarity it with us.

Welcome to our forum community Ana, and Congrats on your Barcelo Colonial wedding next Nov!!!

You've come to a great place for ideas, advice and support from everyone here, so well done on a good start :)

You'll see other brides who've started off where you are, and found out it all turned out great and worked out very well, so they wish they hadn't stressed over it like they did, and advise other brides to feel confident it will all work out... nice to hear :)

The Barcelo Colonial is an awesome choice of wedding venues - as you can see from these magical wedding "moments that matter" Linc captured there, with more at the album link here: Barcelo Colonial Wedding Album

You can pretty much change anything later on if you need to, as long as it's not the day before your wedding!

The menu did make me laugh - particularly the option for "sweat crème brulee...".

Anyways, I thought the menu was pretty easy to figure out.  Each menu item is on its own line, except for the crème brulee, fish medallions, beef tips and lamb chops which are two lines.

@@ASwedding I know they are  very busy, once I saw 15 weddings in one day, obviously busy season, but It is coming April and May, I am not sure exactly if this is part of the problem but did you tried to do a conference call to talk about the subject? It may be better than waiting a long time and not get the right answer or having more questions than before.

Cheers!

We decided on the surf and turf as well. You should check out the main Barcelo thread. There's lots of good advice on there!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
