Not Doing Oot Bags?

Recommended Posts

I didn't do OOT bags. I decided to use my money to provide memorable experiences for the guests while they were in Cancun! It was the smartest decision I made!! First... you dont have to lug all of the bags and their goodies all the way to your destination and spend your precious time putting them together. Second, people are coming to your wedding to do things with you and would rather have a cool experience than some advil, pepto, and some chapstick! Most of the OOT items people bring for themselves when going on vacation-- and the rest of the items never get used.

I did a private Tequila tasting at our rehearsal dinner and chartered a catamaran for all our guests. Even if you choose to do a group dance lesson or an excursion or hire marriachi-- anything will be extra special and will provide lasting memories for you and your guests!

Hope this helps!

Oh that sounds like a lot of fun. I'll need to look into a catamaran and the dance lessons. Would you mind sharing who you used for the catamaran?

We did bubba's and I am SO happy we did - I debating filling our OOT bags to the brim and then thought the bubba's were more of a worthwhile investments for our guests as the husband I travel quite a bit and it's one of those things you don't realize how useful they are until you have one. :) Ordering them online was waaaaay cheaper off of the bubba kegs website and I got them sent to our PO box in the states.

However I ended up gettings bags off of bagiva. They were linen bags that were like a $1 each, so I ended up paying 30 bucks with taxes, shipping and what not. In our bags, we ended up putting the bubba, welcome book, and toys for the kids but that was about it. The feedback with just the bags and bubba's alone made me think they were so worthwhile.

That's a great deal on the bags! Everywhere I've been looking cost a lot more then that. Where did you get your welcome book?

We used Samba Catamarans. Very good communication and was able to pay via paypal! :) Had the best time ever on the cruise. They took us snorkeling then were able to parasail off the back of the boat. Once in a lifetime experience for most of my guests. They worked with our budget too which was really appreciated.

Here are the tote bags I ordered:

Ended up buying some iron on paper at Michaels using their weekly 40% off coupon and creating a logo with designmatic:

Welcome books I created and did all on my own with a rough template I had found on here.. I just spruced it up a lot more and added a lot more information. Printed the covers on cardstock I got at Michaels and got the rest printed at Staples front and back in a large quantity - it came out to 50.00 but well worth saving the time I would of used printing it on my crappy printer

I still have it incase you want me to send it to you!

I agree that most people will not know about the welcome bags but either way it will be appreciated.  I plan to do just a few small things and possibly pay for a group catamaran snorkeling activity as the wedding favor/gift.

I have only been to 1 dw before and was pleasantly surprised with the oot bags, although we never used most of the items while on the trip.. but I really enjoyed the personal letter they wrote to all the guests thanking everyone it was very heartfelt and that means a lot!

@@jackielemman where did the catamaran take you for snorkelling?

I agree that most ppl will not expect anything. My guests were very appreciative, but I think the hangover kits got the most use - along with city maps. I considered cups but decided against - at the resort I stayed at, I saw zero ppl with their own cups - In two weeks. Maybe it was just the resort?

Great info, thanks ladies! I was also wondering about doing the oot bags, yet concerned that they wouldn't be used and also about the cost. I think I may just do a tumbler with a personal note and luggage tag. I'm also thinking of just bringing extra Advil, pepto and stuff like this just in case if anyone needs it I have it.

@Mrsktobe what kind of Bubbas did you get for your guests? I don't know much about them, but I think I need to get one!

Depending on the amount of guests you have, that may limit the size you can purchase if you plan to bring them all down to Mexico as a surprise.  I have the 34oz one for myself personally and it's huge - if I had to bring 44 OMG they would need so many suitcases.   I have a feeling she used the 20oz ones (they are the $6.99 ones on the Bubba website).   I paid $16.99 for mine but didn't get it thru the Bubba website.    http://www.shopbubba.com/shop-all/mugs/bubba-20-oz-mug-classic-pink/

She's right, I got the 20 oz ones. and LOL I ended up bringing 44 down hahaha. I was that person. We got Option plus, plus spread them out between a few of our friends. I also bubble wrapped all of them with bubble wrap from home depot. Because I got so many of them, there was a discount - I think it was 15-20% off bulk orders. I liked ordering off the website as there were various colors to choose from. And the customer service was awesome. We ended up receiving 3 broken ones and they shipped out new ones, no problem the next day.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
