Not Doing Oot Bags?

Recommended Posts

I have only been to an all inclusive resort once and I don't remember what people did with drinks. I have been thinking about giving koozies in our OOT bags but don't know if people would use them or tumbler/ bubbas more. Do people just put their drinks from the bar in the bubbas? I just want to get whatever people will get more use out of!

Since koozies generally fit on cans or bottles and AIs most usually use draft beer, insulated cups/bubbas are generally considered more useful at an all inclusive. You will see many people head up to a bar with their mugs and they will be filled directly into them- saving trips to the bar (usually the small plastic cups are 6oz at most), and keep your beverage (regardless of beer or piña colada) frosty cold while hanging by the pool!

@colleent09 in addition to keeping it cold and minimizing trips to the bar, it also keeps the sand out of your drink when you're on the beach! Plus, it is an added bonus of reducing waste. That is a lot of garbage created when you think of all those disposable 8oz plastic cups.

My sister did koozies for her DW and they did not actually get much use since they didn't really fit the cups, as @@kmk2016 mentioned.

@Kayla88    Besides the beach bags, yes they will be getting them gifts as well.

I also got the girls each a custom hand bag I had made from etsy.  Its chevron in our wedding colors.  So, far I also purchased each of them a necklace now just searching for earrings to match.  Then will be making custom dress hangers for them.

here is a picture of the custom bags and the necklaces.

@@Kayla88 Do you mind me asking what the deal with the Bubba tumblers are?  I've heard everyone raving about them--are they just really nice tumblers or is there something unique about them?

Oddly enough I think it's more of a Canadian thing. With the various resorts we've been to, the people we see with them all seem to be from Canada. i don't think it's as popular with Americans. But they definitely come in handy. We first used them in 2006 and wondered why we hadn't figure it out long before then! It saved us back and forth to the bar because the glasses they give you are so tiny, plus in the heat on the beach or by the pool, your ice won't melt as quickly!!

I was wondering if there is anyone else that will not be going OOT bags? I was just thinking of buying them each a Bubba for their arrival and marca's for their wedding favor. If this considered cheap? Do you think my guest will be disappointed? I'm not sure that I can afford to do full OOT Bags but I still want my guest to know how grateful I am that they are attending. TIA

Nope, I don't think they'll be disappointed. Honestly, I don't see the point in purchasing bags. Chances are guests will bring their own beach bag if they want one...and the men most likely wouldn't use them. We ordered double wall insulated cups and are "stuffing" them with aloe vera, tums (2 doses), LifeSavers mints (which also help calm upset stomch), spf lip balm, and adding confetti (just because it's pretty). Surprisingly, all of this fits in to the cup, with room to spare! We are also designing a Welcome Letter that will be in each cup. The letter will include a thank you note from us, a who's who info section (moms' names and bridal party), where people traveled from, "tips," restaurant hours and dress codes, wedding day itinerary, and reception menu. (I think that that's it.. I may be missing something on the letter.. I can't remember offhand). Additionally, I am designing tags that will be attached to the cups. And lastly, as noted in the photo -  we are giving a first aid kit with the cups (Johnson & Johnson is great - bandaids, neosporin, tylenol, etc).

I'm personally not doing OOT bags because it is a huge expense and hard to get all together I find! Especially since I was recently in a car accident so haven't been able to do as much as I would like!

Instead for wedding favours we are doing cup cozies

(Perfect for Red Stripe in Jamaica!)

For my bridesmaids I'm doing a sort of OOT bags I had the idea to get each girl a sun hat with a beaded sash saying their position ex. Mine says bride haha! Since I want to take a picture with all us girls laying on the beach in our floppy hats I also got each one a beach bag that came with a bathing suit tie on cover! In each bag will be sunscreen and aloe Vera for burns haha! I also put 50$ into each girls dress!

We have like 70 people coming and I want to do OOT bags but FI thinks it'll be a waste of money. I like the Bubba idea and maraca but there's no way I can lug 70 mugs down there!

70 bubba's would be unreal to lug down. Easily 2 suitcases. All I could suggest is a cup that stacks. Maybe a stadium cup? I think this idea is great and had I have known of it sooner I would have done stadium cups over tumblers

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
