Riu Package Extras

Thanks to both of you that's really helpful! I've spoken to a couple travel agents I didn't particularly like because they were clearly pushing me toward resorts they had partnerships with, rather than the resorts I liked. But I definitely need someone to handle the guest travel.

Big news ladies...

The resort finally contacted our travel agent and said our date was confirmed!!!!!

I am so excited!!!

though a little worried cause I thought the prices would be a little more reasonable... wasnt aware that we would be paying for ALOT of extras!!!!

Anyways we will make it work!

Yay!  It's a great feeling getting that confirmation from them.  I know how you feel about all the extras.  They must have given me an older extra list which stated that open bar is included with the private menu per person fee.

I guess now its an additional $20 per person for the international open bar.  That just means budgeting more wisely...

Which TA are you using?

Ya thats the frusterating thing is the bar... we are going to an all inclusive resort and have to pay for a bar... i dont really understand that...

We are using a lady named Nicola from Maritime Travel in St. Albert, Alberta. She has been amazing and has got us such good quotes for our guests!

I am also confused about the bar fee! I read some older posts that said there is a bar very close to the receptions area (if you choose Baja Norte area, which seems most popular). And that they had their guests go to that bar. They gave them a nice tip to make sure they gave attention to their guests quickly. Anyone else hear about this?

I have also read this on other threads which has convinced me to skip the open bar.

Since our ceremony is at 4:00 PM there is some time until our reception at 7:00 PM.  While we take pictures, our guests will have time to freshen up before dinner, relax, drink at the lobby bar if they wish or take advantage of their liquor dispensers in their rooms.  I'm not sure if getting the open bar is worth it because not everyone in our party will take advantage of it.

@@samFEB2016 and @@sbodnar4 I was a bridesmaid for a 2010 destination wedding at Riu Palace in Cabo and you've both chosen a great resort. The rooms were clean as were the pools. It was very relaxing and service was wonderful. My friend opted against having a bar and honestly, I didn't even notice. The bars are close by and we'd just grab drinks after going to the washroom. I do remember some of the servers getting us drinks for us (tipping generously may have helped )

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
