Vintage Vs. Rustic

Recommended Posts

Ladies I have only you guys to vent to. If we were getting married at home, I pictured us getting married in a barnyard/vineyard type location with lots of burlap, ivory, blush and gold. However, we chose a destination wedding. While those can still come with me to Mexico, I think the burlap will look better if we were to have an outdoor reception. My fiance is totally against an outdoor reception and I think it would be great. So, we are in the ballroom and I just cant picture rustic in the ballroom. My fiance also wants navy to be incorporated. So I found myself hooked on the navy, blush, and gold color combo. Which is great. I have navy chair sashes, navy table runners, gold mason jars (from my grandparents 50th anniversary centerpieces), I plan to have the gold tiffany chairs and chargers. My dilemma is that I ordered burlap runners and planned to paint them in a chevron gold stripe, glue them over the navy organza runner, and glue something gold and dangly at the end of the burlap since its shorter than the organza runner.

As you may can see I am so confused, I want the glam of the 20s but I also love the casual feeling of the rustic. But I feel like since we will be in a ballroom with uplighting, burlap just wont fit. So, I may be selling some items pretty soon. Please let me know what you think and please share any thoughts, pictures, you may have. I know nobody will probably even notice. But arts and crafts is my thing, so I put a lot of thought into it.

thanks

Hey

Personally I've seen burlap used for indoor weddings a lot and I don't think it looks out of place whatsoever. I think it's more the whole picture - ie I went for bright and vibrant and if I threw in burlap or lace people would be like wth!! That's out of place. But in your case since it's the theme I personally feel you are totally ok!!!! Sounds very elegant.

I am doing indoor and doing rustic beach theme...the bridal party is all bringing cowboy boots for pics, we will play country music mixed with popular music mixed with old school biggie rap as many guests are from Brooklyn and like that...we are prob a jumbled mess but it's our group and what we like.....so do not feel limited...you can do what you want...just bc there is up lighting you don't have to limit yourself ! I am usually totally anxious control freak and ironically with my wedding I am being more of "it is what it is" my family and friends who are going will enjoy a weeklong getaway and are relaxed....half my guests tried to convince me not to have a reception bc they would just party at disco with us but I'm pretty set on my certain moments that require a reception..first dance, dance with my dad, dance with our kids...your wedding will be wonderful as long as you do what you want....if you dream of burlap then make it happen

I've seen indoor weddings with burlap and they looked good! I agree, I think it all depends on the overall feel you want to give the wedding and making sure things go together :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
