@@jeffandrobyn Jennifer, while she was very nice. Her prices were too high. When I told her the rates I received she said "they dont include transportation" and I'm talking almost an extra $200 a person. Now, if I never been to the area before I mightve went with her. But, I know how much transportation typically costs. I reached out to about 7 travel agents and hands down Wright for me, couldn't be topped. I def say shop around if you're not ready to settle and see what you find. I was interested in destinationweddings.com, however I did not like that you have to pay before they will talk with you, so if you decide not to go with them you lose your money.

@@TheBHolders - I don't understand why that  travel agency was so much higher. Only thing I can think of is she must have built in some additional fees somewhere because all travel agents should have quotes that are pretty similar. A group rate is a group rate...it doesn't vary that much  I wonder what vendor she uses...

For all the groups I have done over the years, shared transportation is only about $40 per person in addition to the room rate.

I think the most important thing is to find a travel agent that you "click" with rather than shopping simply on price. Your travel agent is a vital part in the planning of your destination wedding, and you need one that you can fully trust and get along well with.

@@travelgal78 actually I am not sure. One of my close friends has a travel agency and I didnt use her for numerous reasons. But, all of the rates that I got back from each travel agent were different. No two had the same quote. Yea "clicking" is cool, but price is always a determining factor. At the end of the day a travel agent, is about their money as well and knows that they have to make a sale. BTW I am working with a travel agent from Wright (they own this forum) and she has been absolutely amazing. So, I am winning all over, I trust her, we click, and the price was the best for my guests.

  • 3 weeks later...

I initially requested information from several TAs one night, and the next day Brandi not only emailed me, she called, too. Responded quickly with quotes when I kept changing my mind :), and once I made a decision, the website was up that day. Prices seem reasonable, and the website is pretty user friendly. Also, no deposit to start working with them! Definite plus!

@@susie q, are you referring to Wright travel agency or who did you decide to work with?

@ Ha! I guess that would have been nice to mention! Brandi works for travelzap.com and has been great! We're getting married at Riu Palace Mexico- we love their properties (she's been to RPM, too)!

If I lived in the States I would have gone with Wright Travel! They have great relationships with the best resorts so you're bound go get a good deal :) and if nothing else at least you'll have a good experience.

It's good to have a TA that has been to a lot of resorts and they can steer you into the right direction for one that will fit your needs.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
