When the bridal party entered the reception, I had them each introduced while the DJ played Black Eyed Peas, I got a feeling. Then my husband and I were introduced to Heavy D and the Boyz, Now that we found love. After a few seconds of us dancing, he transitioned to our first dance.

I opted to not have a father/daughter and mother/son dance so that we could all get right to eating and dancing. I feel like each of those little things just takes time away from the party when we also had to stop for the fire dancers at some point as well (but that was just our opinion and how we wanted it). You can work out with the DJ which traditions you want/don't want to do and the corresponding songs. They are are willing to do whatever you want!

Ok, perfect thank you!! I know you said you did your music through Spotify.. I honestly don't know anything about Spotify! Do you have to download the music or is it more like an online radio? Do you have to be a member? Thanks again!

Spotify is free (or you can pay to avoid commercials) and it's an online radio-type of program. You can sign up through your facebook account. But its nice because you can make playlists (and keep them private if you want) and share them with other members. I asked the DJ if I could send him my list that way, so he gave me his user #. You could also send your list the old fashioned way if you don't want to make an account. I just found it to be the easiest/fool proof way to share which songs/artists i want played :)

I am just starting my planning adventure and any bit of info helps! This last month has just been chaos with trying to get the resort to finalize our date and coordinating with our travel agent.

I am taking a break till christmas is over then going back at it with invites and what not in the new year!!!!

Do you have your photos yet? I would love to see them!

Congrats on you wedding and your wonderful experience. I'm new to the forum and I have finally locked in my wedding day May 28, 2016 at Riu Palace. There's so much information. We have decided on the Royal package and I debating on where to get my hair/makeup done. Being that I haven't made 150 post yet I'm limited on views if you have any pictures I would gretaly appreciate it. gmail.com'>bnr2780@gmail.com

@MelissaH113 Thank you for sharing detailed review of your experience. I have been officially nominated as a bridesmaid and will be assisting my bestie in planning her DW in Mexico for 2016/2017. She is thinking of Cabos, and likes the thought of doing it at the RIU. If you don't mind, I or we may need to pick at you with questions based on your experience at this location. Ty. :)

Our perfect wedding in the Riviera Maya.
