Riu Palace Photographer, What Did You Think?

Recommended Posts

Hi Cabo Brides,

I am wondering if you can give me insight on the photographers at the Riu Palace.  Our wedding is in September 2015 and I am wondering what you thought about the local photographers.  I have talked to a lot of brides who have mentioned their photos are priceless to them and to make sure to find a good photographer for the day.   Did you use the photographer that's located at the Riu?  Or did you use an outside vendor?  Did you get what you were looking for in the images, if you did use the Riu photographers?  Any suggestions would be greatly appropriated:)

It's too bad no one has responded to this because I'm interested, too! Based on the portfolio the resort photographer supplied on their website, I was not happy with what I saw, so I booked an outside vendor: Gilda Badillo.

My wedding is April 28th, 2015 so when get my pictures back, I'll let you know what I thought about her and her work. (If I forget, then send me a PM here!)

The biggest thing I liked about her was the price. She cuts her packages down by about $200 because she knows that the RIUs charge an outside vendor fee. AND she doesn't charge tax (which is 16% in Mexico!!) if you pay in cash/through PayPal! She only requires a $200 deposit to secure your date, and that goes towards your total package price. Shipping is also included in the package price (which the hotel charges an extra $60-$70 on TOP of your package fees)! It's a pretty great deal, if you ask me!

All I can suggest is that you research the photographers that work for the Riu (is it adventure photos?). Go thru all the pics you saw from them and ask who shot the work of the weddings you love. Then ensure you can request them.

That's what I did at my resort - no Rui. And it worked fabulously.

I talked with a few ladies who got married at the Riu and they let me see their photos done by the hotel photographer. The photos i have seen are amazing! the ones on the website really need to be updated because they do not show their work in the way that everyone should see it!

I booked with them for May 2016 because i was really impressed with the photos other ladies let me see

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
