Well... For The First Time In Quite A While, Our News Is Good!

I'm still working at getting it all to sink in.... but after about 9 hours of surgery, about 41 days in the hospital in total, huge doses of drugs I can't even spell, 2 blood transfusions and more needles, IVs and blood tests than I could even begin to count, the news we got on Wednesday was overall very positive! We have another report to get on the 14th and we're hoping that one will be as good! It looks like we still might have one more small surgery but we don't even have to look at considering it until next September! And it's possible that things will progress and heal well enough over the next year that it may not be necessary. I even got clearance and go back to work on Monday! No running around like crazy, still no lifting for another 4 weeks but I can finally work at getting on with life!

So ladies.... I'm going to start a bit at a time putting our vow renewal together for October next year! I can't believe it! I just hope now that I've said something.... that I haven't jinxed it!! lol

I'm glad to hear your recovery is going quite well! I had my surgery last year and I know how you are feeling. I hope you have the speediest of recoveries.

I hope it went well for you and I hope the recovery was a smooth one! Ours has been a 2 year road of just constant bad news. We got lucky when it all started though. I came much too close to not being here at all! My husband kept asking when we were going to catch a break. Out of 3 years married 2 anniversaries have been celebrated in the hospital! lol I could not have survived it all without the love of my life and I thank god for him everyday! Even the days when I love him to death but he drives me totally NUTS!! lol

Your wedding is getting so close!! You must be so excited! We managed to get permission for a couple of days in Vancouver just to reassure my father that I'm ok so just got back. I have a son there too that lives right downtown and then family in Langley. I've driven the Kokahalla so have been close to Kamloops that way, but have never actually been there. I hear it's beautiful! We were looking for wine to bring home with us for when I get permission again to be able to drink it but were sort of disappointed with what we found. I have an allergy to reds so we only looked at whites, which I know restricts us a lot.

Hope the move went well and that you're getting settled before the big day!

Did you stop in Kelowna or Penticton - wineries all over and some tasty tasty white wines.  I rarely drink wine, but if I do it is white.  I would LOVE to move to Kelowna but the money just isn't there like it is in Calgary!   One of my favorite whites is the Gewurztraminer from Quail's Gate.

Anyways, this is totally off topic, just love the Okanagan!!  (I have no idea how to spell it lol)

I was allowed only a couple of days, and even the flight I had to fight for. We had time with my son in downtown then my dad in Langley. He's almost 94 and has just been so agitated over the hospital stuff this time. It was just to put his mind at ease and let him know that I'm ok. We only looked at wine in the store where my son took us. My husband likes the Guwertz wines too, but I don't care for the spice in the flavour. I'm a Reisling girl and the sweeter the better! lol I don't like sauvignon or chardonnay at all but I found the reislings that we looked at were very much on the dry side, whereas I really like the sweeter ones, like a 4 or higher. I'm in love with icewine which here will go as high as a 24. We do the icewine festival in Niagara here every January. I'm hoping this Friday that we'll get the ok for alcohol again! lol I miss having a glass of wine! I know there will be restrictions because of meds but hopefully I can at least have a glass! I don't care if I can't have the whole bottle!!

@@acw271011 My recovery was pretty good. I still have some problems breathing, but I hope it will get better in the future.

OMG! I LOVE sweeter/off-dry wines. If you like inexpensive, sweeter wines, try the moscato from Barefoot (California). Have you tried German wines? They tend to have a lot of Rieslings. We love Balthasar Ress, Dr. Loosen

When we visit the wineries in Niagara region, we fell in love with Palatine Hills' ice & dessert wines.

The Okanagan region (Kelowna) has a lot more wine than Thompson region (Kamloops). We really love sweeter wines as well and so we love Hillside Winery, The View Winery, Dirty Laundry Winery, and St. Hubertus Winery that are around Okanagan.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
