Traveling With Glass

After seeing our resorts centerpieces, it will be much cheaper if we bring our own. How safe is it to check/carry glass on a plane? I am so afraid something would break! Or any other ideas that would NOT include glass would be much appreciated. We also do not want flower ideas for the centerpieces (flowers are too expensive).

I was too scared to travel with anything breakable. We are using bloom box vases - they are cardboard with a plastic liner but can be used for anything. I have them in my possession and LOVE them :)

I was going to suggest bloom boxes as well.... Or anything plexiglass/plastic would work well. There are a ton of centre piece options that don't include flowers.... Pinterest has a ton of ideas! Good luck!!

How about some beautiful citrus fruit (lemons, limes or oranges) lined up on a pretty plate or sliced in water in a tall cylinder ? Add a tea light candle in a cut half of the fruit, for an elegant fresh finishing touch - classy and oh so fragrant!

Wishing you happy research, and hope you find the perfect fit for your Big Day - cheers!!! team MTM :)

I am planning to carry 3 tall glass vases. I was planning to just stuff them with socks and then wrap bubble wrap and clothes on the outside.

uh-oh, how expensive are the resort center pieces? I still havent heard from the wedding coordinator at Barcelo :( So i am still living vicariously through you!!!

What if you did something like this?

I know you don't want flowers but you can bring colour and height with pinwheels!  they are super easy to make too :)

@@cfinkenbine just like @@calgarybride2015 said the LED candles would be perfect!  the only thing is I have only seen them in white but that doesn't mean they don't have other colours.

Depending on what Barcelo quotes us for centerpieces I may have to do something similar too.  Have they sent you the styles of bridal bouquets yet?  :)

My travel agent has sent an email requesting a wedding coordinator contact but I still have yet to hear back.  I am trying to be patient. :)

I brought glass votive holders...I packed them in shoe boxes and put them in my carry on for the trip down. I think one or two broke at the wedding. On the way home I packed them into checked luggage between chair bows and they made it back intact!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
