Wedding Site At Beach Hotel, Not In Sand

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I'm new here. I just got engaged 2 weeks ago and I've been searching for a wedding venue for about a week. We have our hearts set on Jamaica because of the culture, food, overall vibe, and beautiful beaches. We'd like to get married in Negril or MBay at a beach hotel that has ceremony options other than the beach. I love the beach but we don't want our ceremony in the sand. I'd much prefer to be in a gazebo, in a garden, or on a balcony with the water in the background (a must). Does anyone have any suggestions? We're expecting about 50 guests (including about 5 kids).

Right now we're leaning towards Moon Dance Cliffs and just shuttling to the beach. I LOVE the ceremony site at MDC and they have good reviews. I've been in touch with the head office and they've been very nice and responsive so far. But if we could find a place that's on the beach, that'd be ideal. Thanks for your help!

Hi

Right now I'm looking at Feb or April 2016. What's yours?

I still really like Moon Dance Cliffs but now I'm looking at private villas. I was thinking about contacting a planner in Negril for a list of private venues on the cliffs. I don't know though. My family likes Moon Dance Cliffs so I might just make it easy on myself and go with them. A small part of me still wants to stay on the beach though.

Congrats to both of you on your engagements!! I was in the same position, my fiancé didn't want to get married on the sand but we both wanted a water view for the ceremony. We're getting married at the Royalton White Sands (it's a little bit outside Montego Bay) in April 2015. The resort has a gorgeous gazebo at the end of a walkway going out into the ocean. The private reception is poolside later that night.

Let me know if you want me to email the photos I took when we visited there in May of this year.

Happy Planning!!

I'm also a Jamaica bride (3 yrs) and we were married at Gran Bahia Principe Jamaica. It's about an hour from MBay but only about 25 mins from Ocho Rios. They have a gazebo right on the water with a nice walkway leading to it. You're not in the sand at all and the water is right there along with a nice little private area off to the side for your photos afterwards. And the wedding team was amazing!!

God luck and happy planning!

Hi Ladies,

Thanks for the input. I ended up changing locations. While I love the culture of Jamaica, I just couldn't find a venue that I loved. We've decided on Beach Palace in Cancun. They have a lovely rooftop venue fits our personalities and styles perfectly. We're happy with our choice and are now in process of choosing date and doing a contract. Congrats and best of luck to you all!

I wanted a tropical, beach themed event for our vow renewal but did not want to be in the sand either. We found the perfect venue in Villas Sur Mer in Negril Jamaica. The cliff top resort is boutique, intimate and gorgeous and I can't wait. Many 5 star stellar reviews on Trip Advisor as well.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
