Online/phone Vs In-Person Travel Agent

Recommended Posts

Looking for a great travel agent in Edmonton and wondering what your thoughts are on dealing with an online/phone travel agent vs one that you can go see in person. Any concerns not being able to see them in person? Looking for some recommendations from this helpful group.

I'm in Calgary and my travel agent lives in BC. I couldn't find one here to see me/call me back so I used this lady as she is a friend of a friend. I don't regret it for a moment. We email all the time and when we really needed to figure things out we called eachother. She's been fantastic.

I have a local TA and we communicate through phone and e-mail for the most part. We've only met her once before going with her. I think the first meeting needs to be in person, but can easily be arranged through skype. After that, phone and e-mail is more than enough.

We've been working with LaurieLee from PierOne travel. She's based in Calgary and so far she's been great with us. I think talk to a few TAs and see what they offer you. It depends what hotel you want to book with, you are better off working with a TA with good relationships with that resort. They're in a better position to offer you deals.

The key is to establish some type of rapport. You can do that via phone, email or in person. If you can do that and they are good at their job then you should be in good hands. My TA is in a completely other state than me. But we are constantly talk via email, phone and text and she's been getting a lot done for me. So for me personally, I don't need for her to be in close proximity.

I've never met my travel agent as she is in la sale, Ontario but she is fantastic. I'm apart of the "Bahia Lover's" group on facebook and she was highly recommended on there and I have had no regrets using her as she is extremely knowledgeable on the resort we are staying at and has great rapport with the people there :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
