I'm new to this as well. I'm getting married June 2016, at Excellence Playa Mujeres. So I have some time, but then again, time has been flying.

I have found this site to be the biggest help so far!

New Bride here!  Well we have been engaged for almost a year, but the wedding planning is still just starting....again.  I originally wanted a destination wedding but after discussing it with my parents (who are paying) it changed to a Chicago wedding, until they realized it would be at least $20,000 with a miserable daughter/bride planning it all! So back to the drawing board.

Unfortunately I think I lost all my excitement for the wedding.  I am having a hard time keeping track of different resorts and pricing and am getting depressed by the thought of my wedding, which, of course makes me sadder! AH!

We want to have it on the beach.  Mexico-Mayan Riviera (would like to see ruins) or Hawaii.  About 20-30 people.  Beautiful?  Easiest?  Affordable?  Am I crazy? I need some help.  I would like the wedding ceremony/reception/my parents flights/ my parents hotel stay all for under $10,000.  Is that possible????

Any responses would be appreciated.  We haven't set a date, waiting to find the resort!

Hi I feel your pain! I've been engaged for 6 months and I planned a small (12 person) wedding at home (North Carolina) and then my mother found out about the guest list and became very upset. So, I switched things around for her and quickly found I was stressed out and my sweet, small beach wedding I have always wanted wasn't so small nor on the beach. So I changed it again! Now, I'm looking at Excellence Playa Mujeres. I haven't personally been to this resort but know friends who have. I wont get to visit the resort until we get there for the wedding, which is stressful, but I'm sure it will all work out.

What helped me was to think about what I really wanted and go from there. It's your day, you should be happy! I figured out most of the details and then told my mother... She isn't very happy that I'm getting married in Mexico, but then again I'm paying for it and it's not about her.

Good luck!!

Congrats to all! Received my confirmation letter and now I'm starting to plan my Dec 11th wedding in Riviera Maya, Mexico! Now that I've picked a resort... I feel less stressed.

Hello fellow Palace Bride! Good choice with Moon Palace.. I went there with my FI a few years ago and it's a beautiful resort.

I can relate to you.. I spoke to my coordinator a week or two ago.. I gave her all of my questions and I got a random email back which answered maybe one of my questions haha.

She managed to send me information for the preferred palace vendors for decor (LatinAsia and Zuniga) and I had a look and connected with them directly. It's certainly overwhelming trying to figure it all out.

I was hoping for a bit more involvement from the wedding planner because it's a lot of decisions.

I think the hardest part is not being there and being able to see the space. Are you planning to have yours on the outdoor terrace area?
I remember seeing a wedding when I was staying at Moon.. it was on an outdoor terrace that looked out to the beach.
