Newbie 2015 Bride!

My fiancé and I finally decided on a destination wedding and just booked Moon Palace Cancun for October 2015. I'm so excited but feeling a little overwhelmed with doing all the planning from a distance! When I first looked at their wedding packages I thought the resort had most of the vendors (flowers, music, photographer) on site but now I feel like that's not the case and I'm a little confused. The wedding coordinator emailed me 2 weeks ago to set pubs phone call and I haven't heard back since I told her when I was available. I'm hoping to get a lot of my questions answered when I talk to her but any advice on how this all works would be appreciated!

Hi @@colleentf09! I'm also a Moon Palace bride; my wedding is just a few months after yours. They have quite a few vendors and I can't say I'm well versed on all of them but I will say that this forum is really helpful. There's also a Facebook group for Palace brides that's really great. A lot of the vendors, past and future brides and even wedding coordinators are on there and typically reply right away to any questions you may have. Basically I've been addicted to this site and the Facebook group.

I've also been quite fortunate to have such a wonderful offsite Palace resorts wedding coordinator. They have over 180 weddings every year so keep that in mind when the response time is delayed. They are really knowledgeable so hopefully you'll hear back from yours soon.

If you have any questions, there's a forum for 2015-2016 moon palace brides. We can hopefully help each other out

Can anyone recommend me to a good photographer at Azul Sensatori's I'm no impress with the ones that I've seen so far. I don't think their pictures are professional, thank you. Anything else you can tell me about the resort I would greatly appreciate.

I saw you have already posted on the Sensatori thread but I would take the time to read through both the Sensatori brides and the official Sensatori threads... It's a lot of reading but you will get a ton of information and suggestions on photographers etc.

The threads are a wealth of information!

Hi ladies - I'm new to the boards and am just starting to plan our wedding. We are thinking Nov. 14, 2015 and are still deciding on a resort in Mexico. Reading your updates has me both excited and stressed!! Really have to hurry and pick a resort and work on those STDs.

Question - did you guys visit the resorts before making a final decision? I'm scared to pull the trigger without seeing the place in person but with the holidays and work, the earliest I can get to Mexico is at the end of Jan. Do you think that's too late to the process started?

Thanks in advance!

Deciding on the resort is the toughest part.

We chose ours without having visited the site, it's really hard but it is totally possible!  It can leave your head spinning.

I never once considered a site tour to be honest - I spent a lot of time on trip advisor reading reviews, on the resorts websites trying to find wedding packages, etc.   With all the reviews online, the reviews on this board, receiving actual wedding packages from resorts I was able to narrow it down and start getting pricing.  After what seems like reviewing 1 million resorts and pricing out close to 15, we were able to narrow it down to 2 resorts based on our needs/wants, price point for guests, and their wedding packages.  Then we just took the plunge!!!  Once we had picked our resort we found out a few people we know who have been to this resort and married there so that helped ease our mind some.

If you want to see the resort first hard, I think January is enough time for a November wedding.  We picked our resort in early May and sent our invites asap.  We are marrying this January so our guests had about 8 months.    That is more than enough time, IMO, to plan the wedding.   For me, I wanted to make sure the guests had enough time to save.

Edit: I also recommend getting in touch with a travel agent who knows a thing or two about destination weddings.  All my top picks were actually her recommendations. She was soooo valuable thru this process.

Good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
