Newbie 2015 Bride!

My fiancé and I finally decided on a destination wedding and just booked Moon Palace Cancun for October 2015. I'm so excited but feeling a little overwhelmed with doing all the planning from a distance! When I first looked at their wedding packages I thought the resort had most of the vendors (flowers, music, photographer) on site but now I feel like that's not the case and I'm a little confused. The wedding coordinator emailed me 2 weeks ago to set pubs phone call and I haven't heard back since I told her when I was available. I'm hoping to get a lot of my questions answered when I talk to her but any advice on how this all works would be appreciated!

Welcome and congrats.

I've never done a phone call/skype with my resort so can't comment there, but hopefully another Moon Palace bride will. Picking the destination is one of the toughest parts, now you can plan the fun stuff. I know there is other big decisions to make and you will find lots of reviews here. It's a great board, I'm sure you'll become just as addicted as we all are :)

Congrats and welcome to the site! You will definitely find tons of ideas and opinions here that will help you on your planning journey. Moon Palace seems to be a popular resort for weddings, so definitely take a look at the forums for the resort. I think just about any question you have has been asked by other brides so the forums are one of the best places for easy answers.

Good luck and happy planning!

This is a popular time for weddings in that area and will remain so for a bit so don't stress about not hearing back from the WC yet.  Use the time between now and your conversation to review any of the information available on this site and others.  That should help you formulate the questions to ask when you have your phone conversation.

Often, the WC don't focus on the wedding until a month or two out from the date because they have so many before it.   That doesn't mean they won't communicate with you though so you can get the information you need to continue with your planning.

Colleen,

Most resorts offer wedding packages with everything included. Many brides and grooms however

decide to hire externally too. You need to look at what the package has offered.

If for example you decide to hire an external photographer, maybe because you feel you connected well with and has your same vision for your day and are impressed by their quality, you may hire them.

Most resorts do allow external photographers to shoot..some for a fee, some not

Dont be confused. any questions you have will be answered on this forum.

I agree, take your time to formulate your questions for when she contacts you.

I felt the same way when I decided on a destination wedding. However once I sat down and read and connected with other brides and brides to be from my resort I started to relax. Everyone on here is so friendly and helpful. Just ask questions and you will have so much feedback. That being said be warned that you will become completely addicted to the site :) Happy Planning :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
