Hi girls! We have confirmed July 9th 2016 at Gran Caribe Real Cancún.

I'm so nervous and I keep telling myself we still have over a year to plan! Yet, I want to start everything!!!

When are you planning to send your stds? Since half of the family is traveling, I was thinking about sending them with one year anticipation.

Happy planning!

How exciting! Congrats! We just had our wedding at Gran Caribe Real. Highly recommended! :)

@@rbehlke I got my dress from Ferre Sposa (at Bloor and Ossington) and I can't recommend them enough. My sister got her wedding dress there after a disaster at another location and they were amazing, so I knew I needed to get my dress there too.

The dressing areas are much more private than others I've seen and the people that work there are so helpful and friendly. They don't shove you out the door at the 1 hr mark of your appointment and never make you feel pressured into buying anything. Their dresses are much more reasonably priced than a lot of other places too.

My dress is lighter than most of the others that I tried on, but it's still not super beachy. I think a big part of the decision on type of dress is the location of your wedding reception - if indoors with A/C then you can get away with a heavier dress for sure. Some girls buy a second (usually shorter) dress to wear during the reception to stay cool, others just grin and bear it in the heat. I'm in the grin and bear it crowd, based on the cost of the dress and how much I love it. I want to wear it all night even if I sweat to death!

This is my dress:

This is the dress on the model since the lighting in my pic is terrible.

Happy dress shopping - it was so much more fun than I thought it was going to be!

What a gorgeous dress! Thank you so much for the store recommendation. I can't wait to begin the dress shopping!!

Hi girls! I love reading all your comments, they make me feel like im super behind on my planning. At this moment I'm actually freaking out because it seems like we are moving our date forward from July 9th to Jan 23rd  :o. The thing is I'm a teacher and I get december, january, and february off, and on june, I only get 2 weeks off. So, thinking about packing and getting ready, and the bridezilla I'll likely be, we are now checking availability for January. Which would mean I have to have everything ready NOW (I might be overreacting...) any words of advice??

Are any of you having a agency doing the bookings? I just want to lean all the responsibility of tickets and hotels to one person!

Don't fret! I got married January 21 and at this time last year we hadn't even booked our resort yet :) we booked early may and had invites out mid may. I had tonnes of time! Just do small things at a time.

I used a travel agency ... There can be group booking discounts and other special offers for bride and groom. I'm on my phone so unsure where you live. If in the USA the owner of this site is an agent and would be perfect. If in Canada I can recommend mine :)

Haha, I wont...

I'm in Uruguay! Long way from the north :/

I'm contacting 2 or 3 agencies not just to find a suitable price but also to feel like I can rely on the agency in case anything happens. I had one arrange a package and they messed all up!

How was the weather in January? I mean, we have winter down here, but we are worried about it being too windy!

Thank you!!! @@calgarybride2015

Weather was beautiful. Little windy on the beach but was a god send when we were all dressed up! I think you'd be happy! I don't regret it :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
