Opinions On My Oot Bags

Recommended Posts

My FI keep going back and forth over what to include in our OOT bag. Would love your opinions on this:

1. two pairs of sunglasses

2. Advil, tums, potato chips, etc.

3. Welcome letter, etc.

4. CD of our fav romantic songs

Then we're going to try to find something once we get there at Cost Co that is indigenous to Mexico - like jalopeno jelly or something like that.

I think anything goes as a far as the OOT bags. It's just a nice gesture to make your guests feel welcomed. I think what you have is great. Some people do more some do less. It's really up to you. Your guests will appreciate it either way.

I'm personally not doing food or drinks simply because it's an all-inclusive they're already going to have some of that stuff in their rooms. Plus it's going to be hot and I'm already packing enough stuff so I didn't want to worry about any food melting (candy) or getting crushed. So I opted to send goodies as a thank you for booking. I found some Costa Rica specific goodies and I'm including that with a thank you card.

I'm also adding local treats - chocolates, nuts and candies. But I've researched a few places in pvr that come highly recommended and am pretty excited to go get it!

We are doing a DVD of a few of our favorite movies - I know a lot of my family likes watching while they get ready to go out and I know there are DVD players in the rooms :)

I have thought about doing flip flops…but I am concerned with this due to the fact I would have to ask EVERY guest what size shoe there wear… (ruins the surprise factor a bit, and a lot of extra work). I will be giving out advil & tylenol, tums, band aids, aloe, and maybe a few other meds. I will be putting some kind of snacks in the OOT bags, just not sure what yet. Love the idea for sunglasses (you can get them on bulk websites for cheap!). I love the CD idea also… just too time consuming for me!

Some Ideas:

Dissposable camera

Sunscreen

Chapstick

Hand sanitizer

bugspray

Go to the travel size section of walmart or target and see if they have anything cute.

You def need something that represents where you are getting married. Keychains, trinket, postcards..

This is also a great thread to look at. I think she did an awesome job.

I was going to put sunscreen in my OOT bags, but then I read a thread on here about what were "hits" & "misses" for other peoples OOT bags. They said sunscreen was NOT used by hardly anyone because everyone brought their own since they were going somewhere they knew they would need it.

My big purchases will be insulated mugs/cups and pool mattresses... Our resort doesn't have floats (only sells them for ridiculous price at the gift shop) and one of my favourite things to do on holiday is to lay on a pool mattress and sip a tropical cocktail! I want everyone floating their cares away!

We will then add a couple smaller things to our bags but these are our "big items"

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
