Me and my maid of honor were messing around online last night, looking at dresses (yes, everytime I think I'm sure of one, I see another I want to try on).

We found this dress, and my first impression was that its horrendous. But she blew up the pic, and we kept picking it apart, and ended up saying that we both that it could look really unique and kinda cool. But I still don't think I'd be brave enough to wear it. The "straw" thingy's coming out of the top...those would need to be leveled off even with the bodice. Looks like a scarecrow this way.

Anyway, tell me if my judgement is just truly off or does anyone else think this is kinda cute in a wierd, strange kind of way. Our accent color is gold, so maybe thats why I'm even looking at this thing.

I think it's beautiful but definetly without the boning coming out of the corset. The detail is ever so subtle and goes perfect with the softness of the skirt. One thing to consider is that the bodice might be slightly sheer, but it could work if you're okay with that, it would be great for a beach wedding. The skirt almost looks like those wrap around beach skirts- love it. Do you have a link to the site? If it goes with your colors then you should give it a try it. Oh and show us pictures!

I think you need to try it on. If you look at the different parts of the dress on their own, it doesn't look so good, but if you look at the whole dress i think it looks rather good, the dress does grow on you. I do totally agree about cutting the straw/boned bits to keep inline with the top of the dress. They just look strange as if the dress has been forgotton to be finished off.

If you do try it on, we need pics.

You know what? I like it (with top part evened off). I love the way it drapes. If your colors include gold it will really accentuate them. It's definitely worth an in-person look to see what you think. I like dresses that don't look like every other dress out there, and this is very unique.

Ya, I thought about the fact that the bodice is so sheer. With my dark skin, that could be a little much, so I'd probably have to wear a bridal corset underneath....which is always a plus anyway. I hate strapless bras (don't think they do anything to help the situation if ya KWIM), so that might be a better option any how.

And I ABSOLUTELY agree about the "V" in back. Would have to have it altered in SOME wayto close that up, because I agree that it makes it look like it was too small to zip all the way.

The dress is made by an Ebay bridal designer. She is good about working with you if you don't like it, and will do the alterations according to your measurements. Its just a hassle sending the dress back if you don't like it (did that once before already), but if you give it back without purchasing any from her, you lose 30%, which isn't bad because the dresses are vey reasonable. If you want the info/name, just pm me. She sends them fast, I got the first one I tried the third day after ordering it.

It IS one of those things that I like the more I look at it. I initially seen something in it that made me look closer, so it definitely catches the eye. You're all right though, I won't know til I try it on, and losing 20-30 bucks is worth it if I choose not to buy any of them since they are so reasonable anyway.

So try it on and if you still have doubts if it's unique or "ugly" go with something you think is 100% gorgeous.
I agree with that advice. My first dress was too casual. When i put it on I didn't feel happy. I just felt worried that it wasn't quite right. So I think when you try something on & don't really know how you feel, it's not right. Now that i look at pictures of me in my first dress I know it was all wrong. Is this a dress you can try on or would you have to order it?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
