El Dorado Royale wedding advice

Recommended Posts

Hi ladies,

I'm looking to get married at the EDR in July 2008. Can someone please advice what weather would be like there around that time, and which times are best to schedule a ceremony & reception. Also, I really don't know where to even begin. I've changed my choice of wedding location quite a few times now, but I'm positive about this one. Only concern right now is their off-site photographer policy, what is this all abouthuh.gif Can someone guide me as to a who to contact at EDR to get things started. I don't have much timesmile41.gif. PLEASE HELP!

Contact Lomastravel.com, they will set you up with a wedding coordinator, get you the info you need and get the 100 dollar deposit and required contract from you, then you can reserve the date. July is warm and during hurricaine season, but hurricaine season is long (June-November) and lots of people have had beautiful weddings there during hose months, so it doesn't particularly mean anything. Your wedding coordinator will be able to help you out alot, so go ahead and contact Lomas and you'll be well on your way in no time!

Here is a thread regarding the Photographer issue.

Basically, whether or not it is a big deal, really depends on your own situation.

If you are bringing in local photographers - it really sucks, but as of right now they are not 'officially' changing the policy. If you are bringing down your own photographer, then they will likely be staying at the resort with you anyway - and you can add them to your guest list as a client.

Hopefully, by the time your wedding rolls around, there will be a change in the policy!! Good luck with all the planning - have fun!

Thanks for this helpful tip. By the way, I'm actually in the process of working with a TA out here in my hometown. What are the benefits you think of going with Lomas Travel instead? Also if you had to choose between June-August to have your wedding at EDR, which month would you choose, and why? I'm very undecisive with this.

Thanks so much

Wow, well it took a while to go through all of those posts about the $500 issue and it all makes no sense to me at all. It's major BS that they would make this such an issue. I wonder if there are any photographers on this forum who has shot a wedding at their resort? Thanks so much for that very informative thread. Let's keep each other posted on this for sure :)

I have my own trael agent here in Scottsdale too, Lomas provides your wedding coordinator (they coordinate all Karisma resort/hotel weddings in the area). My TA keeps in contact with my wedding coordinator from Lomas. Personally, I would go earleier rather than later (It just gets warmer), but you may not have much of a choice for dates... contact Lomas soon!

Dreamgirl- good to see another EDR bride! :)--- I actually "found" EDR through DestinationWeddings.com - Destination Weddings and Honeymoons - I paid a $50 deposit with them that was included in my package; and they put me in contact w/ Valeria from Lomas.. .My travel agent from DestinationWeddings.com - Destination Weddings and Honeymoons set up our wedding website and helped me with picking a location/resort. When we sent out our save the dates- we just put the website's information with all of our agent's contact information-- so it's been super easy. She gives quotes to guests coming from different locations, staying in different rooms, and for a different number of nights- I haven't had to think about it once.

Valeria from Lomas has been awesome for us...and this website has been invaluable on picturing what it'll look like/ planning...

Good luck with planning- you'll have tons of info on this site!!!smile123.gif

Hi Shannon!

Out of curiousity, who did Destinationweddings.com set you up with for a travel agent? I was first set up with a woman named Judy Ross... she was HORRIBLE. two months later (and lots of anxiety... she wasn't responding to my e-mails and voicemails) I am notified that she left the company and was reassigned to Colette Ashton who has been a God-sent! I know DW has tons of travel agents, just wasn't sure if they put girls going to the same destination with the same group of agents. How far are you in your planning? What exactly is the mexican donkey cocktail thing they offer... whats with the donkey? Are you having any of the musicians Lomas offers? I'm so excited to have found other EDR brides-to-be as well! -Holly

LADIES.....

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE ADVICE ON HOOKING UP WITH LOMAS! I just recently contacted them, and they have already confirmed a date for me. Only thing is, I'm unsure about the ceremony time (6 pm)rolleyes.gif

I was wondering, what times have you girls scheduled your cermonies for?

I was given, June 28th, 2008.thewave.gif I wonder if it will still be bright out at 6 pm. I want it to be bright out, but I don't want the sun to be beaming either. Nor do I want a ceremony at night. smile35.gif

What is everyone's Big Day Timelines looking like so far?

Thanks in advance popcorn.gif

Hey! here is the sunrise/sunset calender for your wedding month:

http://www.sunrisesunset.com/calendar.asp

I am getting married in May, when the sunsets about 15 minutes earlier.

We are getting married at about 4, then I want the reception to start about 545 or 6. So that gives us time to do a few pics. I also want to maximize the partying time since it all has to shut down at 11!!

Though I am a bit concerned about how hot the sun will be at 4 - I also don't want the sun beating down on me!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
