Renting A Charter Bus?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone rented a Charter bus to get their guests to the airport? Most of my guests are travelling from Ontario, and the nearest airport that Westjet flies out of is 2.5 hours away. I'm trying to find a way to get 20ish people to the airport.

It looks like long term parking is $50-65 dollars, and by leaving from that airport they're saving themselves a couple hundred dollars each, so maybe I should just put that information on the wedding website and let them sort it out?

I didn't put it on our website as most people know that it's par for the course - pay to park or a taxi.

If you think they may drive and get a hotel rather than take a connector then maybe list all the options for them. Then let them figure out what they want to do - ie sometimes people pay more just for convenience.

My travel agent listed the connecting flights and found our guests a smoking hotel deal. Other than that I left that to them to figure out.

We've considered getting a large bus to get us all to the airport as we have 34 people out of Calgary. Still looking... Not really a priority yet as we have 3 months to go.

Edit- our Ontario guests in Windsor are driving to Toronto and spending the night. Our Ottawa guests are taking a connector.

I don't think you need to coordinate this for your guests. People know that they need to make their way to the airport.... It's a super nice gesture but save the $... IMO

I used to work for a vacation company that organized a lot of charters like that. Depending on distance and time, I think you would be looking at at least $500 to have that service for your guests - one way. Ppl will obviously expect that on the way home as well. It could be slightly cheaper. It's a super nice gesture and if you afford it, I'd say go for it, but ppl can carpool as well!

Has anyone rented a charter bus to get their guests from the Cancun airport to the resort? We have 30-ish people flying in at the same time, and think it would be nice to transport everyone to the hotel on a private bus.

Canadians have this included in our packages... But resorts can work with you (as can your TA) on a local company to provide transfers. It's definitely a good way to start for your guests.

Thanks.  We are Canadians and there are 35 of us travelling to Cancun via WestJet.  Our WestJet package includes airport transfers, but sounds like it's possibly a transfer that would include multiple stops at other resorts.  That would be painful after travelling for 5 hours on the plane!  I was thinking it might be a better idea to book a private bus that would hold all of us and bring us directly to the resort...

@@starbx123 With a big group you're unlikely to have too many stops, when I went it was a van with like 10 seats or something in it, we were only a group of two and we had maybe four stops, but all the resorts are on the same road, so it's not like you're running all over the place. I don't think that getting a private charter would save you much time.

Yeah just have your TA work with wj vacations to make sure they take care of you- totally not with paying extra... With 35 they will likely have you all on one transfer and head direct

I also agree, with a large group you will probably be on your own bus thru WJ, if not it will be minimal stops.

I have been on numerous all inclusives and I never felt the stops on the way to my resort were bothersome.

People won't even notice because they will be so busy chatting and looking at the scenery.

Save that money for entertainment!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
