Calgarybride2015's Planning Thread 15/1/21 Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya

:( I know how you feel @@calgarybride2015. My resort is sold out the entire week we are there too.Thankfully my TA secured a big enough room block for us when I asked her to but no one is able to book directly with the resort. I know some other brides at my resort going through this as well. And our guests don't even have the option to stay at another resort because we're so secluded.  Hopefully something will open up for you.

Thanks!  Overall I am not really worried about it. We have 40 people coming to our wedding and they are all secured thru our group booking.  It was just those stragglers for whatever reason couldn't make up their minds.    Shawn's groomsman lives in Mexico though, and he has had the same 8 months as everyone else.

Thankfully you have people secured thru your TA as well.

So our resort sold out!!    Also, for our dates Air Canada appears to be sold out as well.

If you want to stay at our resort you can't until 2 days after we leave -- I guess those people who sat on it for months will be out of luck unless they stay at another resort!!!     I feel sorry for Shawn because now there is no way his groomsman will be able to come for more than the day :(

Oh no!!!  I didn't even think that was really a possibility (I've been out of wedding planning mode & in son's 1st bday/work mode for the last month or so).  I'm sorry!! :(

If this happens to us (which I'm thinking it will since sunwing is the only supplier to my resort for Canadians, and we have already booked more than 1/2 the plane from YYC with our group)...The stragglers that ignored my plights to put down their measly deposits and book, while they keep saying they will wait for a cheaper deal, or they are just lazy and can't be bothered?... I hope that they realize they should have listened. Yes of course we would want them with us at our special day, and would feel bad that they would have to stay elsewhere if they chose to come, and pay for day passes to come on site- but really?? We all warned these people of the possibility... So it's a small "I told you so".

I'm glad that the majority of your guests booked! Phew!!

Exactly!!

We only have 2 couples outstanding -- one was Shawn's cousin who's a little hard up right now so they were a wait and see. The other is his other cousin who, due to union regulations, couldn't ask for holidays until November 1st.

So remember awhile back when I mentioned that Shawn's cousin and mom were asking if it was ok if this cousin's sister and her husband also joined our trip and came to the wedding?  We told them we would think about it and within a few days told them they were welcome and gave them the info to RSVP.  Well, I guess they aren't coming as they never RSVP'd. This same cousin swore up and down to count them in (3 of them) and they would book on their own as their son works for Westjet.  Well we hadn't heard anything so we sent them the pre-travel package.  Get a call that they can't come, he has a meeting.  Kind of annoying since SHE was the one pushing for her sister to come and then none of them come!

@@calgarybride2015 Ok I found them BUT they are in assorted colors :( each at $1, otherwise if I want clear tumblers I found them at $1.59 each. I just dont know if assorted colors matter or not. I was looking at Trevis and mi Fi said it was too much on that lol

I paid $2 so $1 or $1.50 is great IMO lol

I'd do colored ones but I'm easy going. Maybe pick a female color and a male color :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
