Calgarybride2015's Planning Thread 15/1/21 Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya

Recommended Posts

Wow Kim. This all looks awesome! I had some catching up to do on reading through but everything has come together in a great way!! And you're so close now too!! Where does the time go? I know I don't need to remind you to post your pics when you get back!! lol But I can't wait to see them!! I know it will all be fabulous!

One question on your maraca tags. That's the same little phrase I picked out - what did you end up printing them out on, and how big? I designed a little tag but I've trial printed it a couple of times and just don't like it. What did you use? I also have maracas that are like yours and the paint is thin and chipping on a couple of them. They're white, not yellow, but did you find anything to touch them up? I don't want to risk mucking up the design on them but I'm almost ready to order new ones just because they're looking messy.

I envy all you ladies for being so well organized! I can't even make up my mind on a resort! That will be my project over the next few weeks. Thankfully it's October and we're a super small group - no more than 10 max - so I don't think space will be an issue.

Thank you :)  I am a bit of a basket case lately - in tears daily.  I didn't realize the stress/pressure I was going to feel. Lots of ends to tie up, but trying hard!   I have missed a few 'big' things (like getting my kids proper immunizations outside the regular schedule) and now I am panicking if I am going to miss something HUGE :(    You've been here so I know you can appreciate the feeling.

I ordered the maraca tags off of Vistaprint. I just used a regular business card.  Then I cut them down some and attached them to the colored paper!   Worked well for me :)    On the back side I stamped them with 'thank you'.   My maracas are from Amol's, yes some are chipped but the only thing I don't like about them are the yellow ones.  The paint sucks, but I haven't tried to fix them to be honest.  Like you said, you would have to be careful or you could ruin the pic on the front.    With that said though, I don't have to use many yellow ones. I think there was 10 yellow - we ordered 50 and need 46 to have one on each place setting.

EDIT: I like some of the chips and discrepancy in size, etc. as it makes them more authentic.

Can't wait to hear what resort you choose!

I'm trying to decide to order now or buy them in Mexico , I wish some bride could tell me the current price in PV. We're already bringing lanterns and the price to check bags is 70$. I finally nixed the tumblers as I feel my guests might not use them at a non AI

Price wise, I don't think you could beat Amol's, but if you can get them $1 a piece in PV then you would be ok.

I didn't want to have to get there and worry about finding enough, personalizing them, and adding tags.  So for me, I wanted them in my house but I understand with the cost of checked baggage.

I totally agree about no cups for a non AI, but there are a lot of other great ideas :)

@@calgarybride2015 Kim I have not posted anything on your blog lately, BUT I have been reading all because I am following it :) Please relax, breath and take things easy...please do not overwhelm yourself with thoughts that give you more stress and less straight thinking  :) (I hope you don't end up typing the same when I am closer to my wedding pulling my hair haha)

ALL will end up so well to perfection, you have dedicated so much to this planing and the outcome will be terrific, I foresee this :) I know you are super organized since I have been reading your posts :) your day will be the "big day" and what did not happen with anything that was planned ...simply was not meant to be.

I am a turtle planning this wedding and it is coming SOON..(.you did all super well with timing),

I saw your card for the app sharing pics, I think this is smarter  :) I will see how it works  :)my FI wants disposable cameras on the tables, I think that is outdated,

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
