Calgarybride2015's Planning Thread 15/1/21 Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya

Recommended Posts

The offset brooch design is pretty. If you like it, but is concerned about the movement, I would suggest using some sort of adhesive to make sure it stays in place. Some brides, I have heard, use eyelash glue to keep things besides eyelashes in place.

18 bags?!?! OMG...That would've cost another plane ticket!

Kelowna is nice, but again, smaller hospital. The best hospitals are where all the best surgeons are...and they tend to stay in the larger cities.  -_-

Yeah...aside from the cold winters, Alberta's pay is def to be envied by us BC'ers  :D

@@Icis and @@calgarybride2015 yes, as a BC'er I can attest to us being jealous of your wages lol. But I'd take the rain over snow, I'm not a great driver in the snow

@@calgarybride2015 I've suabcribed to your planning thread and have been silently in awe of your talents. You are so talented and creative, I wish I had a bit of that creativity in me. As for your stresses involved with wedding dress fitting, I'm sure it will all work out in the end. You said it felt snug when you took the pics you posted but I thought you looked beautiful in it. I have no doubt that you'll look amazingly gorgeous on your wedding day. Its coming up next month so try to enjoy the lead up, despite all the stresses that come up. xoxo

@@calgarybride2015 oops, I meant your wedding is coming up in a couple of months.

And don't be modest, you are definitely talented. I may have to ask you for help for my wedding DIYs

I'm in Surrey, in the lower Mainland so not as much snow as in Northern BC. We freak out when there's more than a cm of snow on the ground lol

We lost 3 guests today :( I'm not overally surprised, I had a feeling. They didn't book with the group and I had mentioned to Shawn it was odd they still hadn't mentioned about booking!

Back to the drawing board for our table assignment!

Sometimes I wish we had a lack of snow and cold, but not sure I could handle all the rain! I grew up in northern BC so when I came to Calgary the chinooks were awesome - now I'm just a baby all around lol.

I didn't get your email!!!  maybe I will send you one today and see if you get mine!

I got the tumblers at Dollarama. They were $2 each. I know Dollar Tree has something similar and cheaper, but I had already bought mine!

The luggage tags - I bought the holders from Amazon.com, they are called Advantus Proximity Badge Holders.   I then got the loops from Dollarama. They come in packs of 5 for $1 with laminating sleeves but I tossed those.  You can find the loops on Ebay and Amazon but I didn't need the large packs they were selling.

I also found the badge holders at Staples but they were a bit more expensive.

Just a question for you. Did you get fans for the men as well? I'm so torn about this! I thought I would have made a decision about it by now but no haha. I don't want to waste money on things that won't get used, especially because about half of our guests are men, but I also don't want the men to wish they had gotten a fan and be dying from the heat.

We got everyone a fan because we plan to place one on each chair and how can we know who will sit where. Also Shawn wanted too lol :). Also oddly for us our numbers (were) 45 and they come in packs of 15 so worked out that way too.

So our resort sold out!!    Also, for our dates Air Canada appears to be sold out as well.

If you want to stay at our resort you can't until 2 days after we leave -- I guess those people who sat on it for months will be out of luck unless they stay at another resort!!!     I feel sorry for Shawn because now there is no way his groomsman will be able to come for more than the day :(

:( I know how you feel @@calgarybride2015. My resort is sold out the entire week we are there too.Thankfully my TA secured a big enough room block for us when I asked her to but no one is able to book directly with the resort. I know some other brides at my resort going through this as well. And our guests don't even have the option to stay at another resort because we're so secluded.  Hopefully something will open up for you.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
