Calgarybride2015's Planning Thread 15/1/21 Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya

Awesome review very helpful. It sounds like you got an amazing deal compared to some of us suckers lol it seems like you and Shawn had a dinner or two alone , would you recommend that? I'm worried I will feel guilty if I don't spend every night eating w a different group of people esp our last night

Shawn and I had 2 meals alone and I don't feel guilty whatsoever. A meal is 1 hour there is still lots of night after that :) I found people grouped up so I ate with the same people most nights, just the way it worked but everyone always met up after. There was people we didn't spend a lot of time with but it's luck of the draw. No one was offended by it, they had their own things going on.

And trust me, people aren't standing around looking for you. They do their own thing. And I'm happy. It's their vacation too. :)

We got a smashing deal IMO but at the end of the day it's what you want for your wedding. We wanted simple and just using the beauty of where we were. The party meant more to us than extra decor.

You should. Sure it's a lot of work (I won't lie) but it's neat to see it all come together. I easily read every planning thread on this board :)

Hola!

Our photo book came today from Mexico :)

I'm a little disappointed though and thought I would give a few tips to any brides who have one included in their package!!

First off I realize this isn't my photographers fault as she doesn't make the book, but for whoever does it would have been nice for them to crop pictures as needed so they fit properly isn't the space provided. My group shot is missing 3 people on the edge :(

Some pics would be better quality if larger - like the ones I was given on disc. Some aren't in focus now that they are smaller and I don't wanna show people because they appear to be low quality.

Now for the tips

1. Don't pick your photos on the spot - look thru them, leave and process them and come back to choose. I've come to love certain pictures that I left out of the book :(

2. Double check the photos - lol - on our ceremony page we have us signing which would have been nice if we chose the GROOM signing , but no we chose the best man :(

Bahahah it's kinda funny but a complete fail all around.

My aunt got us a gift certificate for a photo book so I can get another just kinda sucks!!

Oh that sucks! You know it's interesting that you mentioned this. as I was doing research for photographers some said that they dont sell prints of their pictures because they couldn't find a good printing service in cancun/playa. Our photographer includes some prints in the package, it was like $30 so we're like why not?

Thanks for the tips though! I hope the second book comes out much better

Thanks guys!! It's not a top quality book and maybe that's why @@TinkerSofi. I think I'm just most disappointed but also amused at the wrong pics lol. Since I can have my own made and do the work with the company I can review it before it's printed. This may have solved the incorrect pics.

But I totally stand by don't pick your photo book pics the same day you see your pics for the first time - so overwhelming.

absolutely! I agree, did you pick them on the same day as your wedding? The first time you see them you're like "ohh, ahh" hahah and then you calm down and become more selective probably :P

Let us know how the new one turns out. Where are you getting it done?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
