Calgarybride2015's Planning Thread 15/1/21 Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya

Recommended Posts

I'm at an AI now and I notice the Canadians with bubbas (heard them talking about where they r from) but no one else surprisingly. My FI nixed our bubba coming here bc it was like 64 oz lol huge! I think I'm ok though bc I don't really drink too much when we're just here alone but I bet a little one would nice to keep drinks cold!

Haha 64oz is massive. My personal one is 34 and I find it big but it last from morning to lunch and my drink isn't warm. I personally love them as the 2 AIs I've been to the cups only held half a can of beer. Half a can. That's too many trips to the bar!!

Where are you? I'm jealous :)

Kim, here is another thing I found on Pinterest that I thought I would share in respect to stressing out over making everything happen now that your wedding is almost here. I think I will need to be reminding myself of this often!

Oh I like that!! We should have that as a board logo just so that everyone takes a step back and reminds themselves!!! You get so caught up with other things that really shouldn't stress you out when it comes to wedding planning.

No worries I'm sitting in the doctors office lol

I bought some rhinestone iron on transfers that I plan to put on a tank to spell BRIDE.

I made a little timeline in publisher to handout at our welcome event to remind them of how the wedding day will go. It's a few pages back :)

How did you manage with publisher? I've never used it and took a quick look and thought "oh lord". I'm just not a designer. I would love to do the boarding pass thingys but I just don't know..... lol

This will probably be the last picture I post until I post my wedding pictures :) :) :)

I made my BRIDE tank today.  It was super easy to make and done in under 5 minutes.    The rhinestone iron on's are pretty expensive but with the 50% off coupon from Michael's it was still cheaper than buying one pre-made.

I was going to make ' Mrs Bourque', but I had to re-create some letters and with my fake nails, it's just too much work to maneuver all those little studs.

Oh and ps -- what do you think of this short hair up-do?

Tank turned out great! And I like the hair style. Mine was about that length when we got married and I had it put up. Not quite the way I wanted but it was so hot that I knew if I left it down at all I would be dripping. As it turned out our gazebo had a beautiful breeze and I probably could have managed, but where we went for photos was quite muggy and my hair started to drop and wilt!

I prefer publisher if you are using graphics. They are easier to move around and group.  I had never used publisher before but I just goofed around until I figured it out.  The boarding pass invites were torturous in word but I got thru it.

Thanks for the heads up on your hair!!!   Today my WC asked me if I wanted my trial in the evening to wear to our 'rehearsal dinner.' I said no I would prefer it very early in the day as my plan for the trial is more for  how it's going to hold up in heat.   I am VERY particular about my hair, always have been, so this is more for my piece of mind.

Here are some pics from last night - sorry they aren't great pictures whosoever and we didn't even put the train out properly lol. I get to pick the dress up to take home on January 10. She didn't have the final hem done - she was worried because I had forgotten my sandals at the last fitting.  So she will now do the final hem and we are good to go!!!!

This also shows you how LONG my hair has gotten since my engagement pictures!

The lady still thinks you can see my undies, I give up!!!  if I have to I will go commando. I have bought so many pairs it's like what else do I do? hahah   Personally I think I am ok, the dress was SOOO staticy and clinging to me.

@@calgarybride2015 I don't see your undies, that felt weird typing that lol. You look beautiful in your dress, so glad it all turned out well with the alterations. The cling is probably from our lovely cold dry Canadian air. I'm sure you'll be fine in Mexico.

hahaha!!!!

She went up my dress and pulled them down some, can you say awkward?  I think it's because I want them at my hips to hide my little roll.  I think my hips are at a spot that is the most form fitted on the dress, so she wants me to wear them lower. I will leave it until Mexico to decide in the sunlight.

Ok these are seriously my last photos until I get back from my wedding :)

Finished off my timelines today and also figured out how to tie the rings on the shell (I had to u tube - dorky right?)

The reason I picked this type of shell is because you can loop the ribbon thru holes on it and not worry about glueing anything!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
