Calgarybride2015's Planning Thread 15/1/21 Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya

Kim, your wedding is going to be great!

I really appreciate all of your post. They have been so inspirational! Can't wait to see the after photos.

Oh, I loved that you added your hair is now long and can pull it up in a poney tail now. I used to have short hair, similar to the length you had in your trial hair photos that you posted early on, and fully understand how fun it is to actually get it pulled up.

I LOVE how you did your seating chart--I was going back and forth with whether to bother with one, but it seemed risky to leave it up to everyone to pick their seat (awkward numbered groups wanting to sit together = lots of empty chairs), so just doing it by table is a great idea.  I'm also stealing that boquet picture--we have the same colors :)

Rachelia160 good point about seating chart! I wasn't planning on doing one, but now that you said something I think I will.

I went to a local wedding a few years ago, and they did not have a seating chart and most of the tables had "reserved" signs on them, it was a huge mess. I think the father of the bride (who paid for a good part of the wedding) didn't even get a table to sit and eat at! They didn't even have enough tables and chairs for everyone to sit at! The wedding planner did a poor job, but the bride and groom went with her since she was family. The wedding was beautiful, but years later one of the first things we all remember about this wedding was their was no direction and every table except the sweetheart table had a reserved sign on it.

Now, I have so many more things to add to my to do list! I have a feeling I have a lot to do and learn over the next year and a half!!

@@Surfingsara That's happened to me about six billion times on this site--I think I've pretty much thought of everything I have to do, but then people mention things that I haven't even THOUGHT about that end up being pretty important!  I have no idea how anyone could get through planning a DW without this site!

Thanks!!  I am pretty excited about my hair. Still hard to find pictures online as inspiration but when I am at my hairdresser's getting my hair dyed next week I plan to ask her for some ideas and/or possibly a quick up-do.

I had planned to just use a basic frame that had 4 frames in one, one for each table.  But it was black and didn't match LOL!!  I found this idea on Etsy, I almost paid someone $20 to do it for me as I was sooooo stressed out, but fiance was like 'nah you can make that yourself'  So I did. If you want the file let me know.   We wanted a seating chart, as did the resort, so I never once considered people sitting wherever. I also feel it could turn into a mess.

That was me 100%....  I would see a thread like 'cake toppers' and go DOH!!  I swear if it wasn't for this site I don't know where I would be.

@@calgarybride2015 Loving all the small details. I have to say I actually laughed out loud with your drunken shenanigans sign haha, I might have to steal your idea. I think your guestbook table looks fine, the travel theme just goes with the postcards :), I can't picture it any other way. I'm planning on getting a sequin table cloth for our guestbook table which has nothing to do with our vintagy wedding but I just love them haha.

Let us know how the hair trial goes! I can't wait to see pictures of the big day with everything together :). I have to say that your thread has been really inspiring and useful for my own planning process. Thank you for posting :)

Thanks!

Lol I stole that sign off etsy. It fits our group well :)

Ahhh sequins and vintage - I'd do it. I don't really have a theme, just bright colors to spruce up all the white linens. Sometimes I wish I had went vintage but it's too late now -- I don't regret what I have at all. Love the color.

Small details is my problem - I'm toooo into the details :) they drive me nuts.

I was in ikea yesterday and they have beautiful lanterns and such, thankfully I didn't go there before I started planning, I'd have no way to get it all there.

Not sure Cheryl will do another trial but I plan to ask!!!

The little details is what I'm worried will consume me!

You want it to feel put together and finished/polished.

Once I said to fiancé that I worried our choices weren't elegant enough, then we both laughed. Elegant our families are not :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
