Calgarybride2015's Planning Thread 15/1/21 Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya

I really like the offset brooch but my only concern is whether that brooch will be going towards the middle all night and then you have to be turning your necklace every 5 minutes, especially when the party begins. I've never had jewelry like that that I don't know if that's what actually happens. I really do like the look of it though with the bracelet :)

I have an offset necklace- and you are bang on with your concern. The weight of the broach will slide it forward over the course of moving. Even with minimal movement, I have to reposition the necklace through the day... So it's something to be aware of. Since you don't have a blouse to "pin" the broach to and keep it in the right location- it will move on bare skin.

But it's definitely pretty!!!

Thanks ladies, for that reason I think I will keep to my original idea!

Hopefully the BMs sets don't do that - they are more choker style so that may work better!

Thanks! The maracas will be on the plates at the reception. I'm not distributing anything before we leave, so will have lots to pack. We are thinking 6-7 suitcases total including clothes.

I doubt my work would have it as I'm a nurse and we don't use it lol but totally worth checking into -- thanks for the idea!

Is fiancé going to move to Kamloops or?

@calgarybride2015 Wow. That's a lot of bags!

What a coincidence! My fiance is a nurse in an orthopedic ward. His workplace offers the program for $11, so you never know!

He is looking into getting a job in the local hospital, but since it is a smaller hospital there are not too many full-time position openings. Further, I'm not sure if it is a good idea for him to move to Kamloops career-wise since most of the surgeries and bigger cases go to Vancouver instead. I guess we will just see how this goes for now.

@@Icis - I bought the program for $11 but I don't see Publisher included? Maybe because I had to get the Mac one?

@tygrrlily Hmmm....mine has everything from Access to Lync to Word. I'm not sure about Mac since I'm a Windows user. Sorry I'm not too much help with that

We get 6 bags included!!  I am adding on one just in case :)  3 will be clothes for the 4 of us.

I read a review on here awhile back where she said she had 18 bags WTH!!!  That's nuts hehehe.

Yeah I totally understand from that perspective and his work!  I have considered moving to Kelowna, but the work just isn't as easy to find as it is here in Calgary or another major center.  Also, unfortunately, it's a large pay cut when you leave AB!

The offset brooch design is pretty. If you like it, but is concerned about the movement, I would suggest using some sort of adhesive to make sure it stays in place. Some brides, I have heard, use eyelash glue to keep things besides eyelashes in place.

18 bags?!?! OMG...That would've cost another plane ticket!

Kelowna is nice, but again, smaller hospital. The best hospitals are where all the best surgeons are...and they tend to stay in the larger cities.  -_-

Yeah...aside from the cold winters, Alberta's pay is def to be envied by us BC'ers  :D

I had considered buying some of that clothing tape to have on hand just in case, but never considered gluing the brooch in place. It's a great idea, but I think i have decided to stick with my first choice!  I found an Etsy seller in Canada who will mimic the design in a bracelet and her picture she sent me was great!  So I will go that route!

You know you are getting close to being done your planning when you no longer have things to search for on Etsy! lol!

Opinions wanted :)

Alright, you all remember me questioning my jewelry in earlier posts.

I do love my braided pearl necklace and have considered trying to either 1. find a similar bracelet or 2. just wearing a single strand bracelet of my friends that matches.

I still love the 'off set brooch' style and found this set on Etsy I have been eyeing up that comes with a bracelet.

I am on the fence that the upgrade is necessary, so just looking for opinions....

Here is the link and just a picture

Oh I love that!! it's gorgeous! I love the offset style - it's what I was looking at too. I think it's something you could wear again for a special occasion. If you love it - get it! lol it's your wedding after all!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
