Calgarybride2015's Planning Thread 15/1/21 Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya

Recommended Posts

As much as this is a piss off, I am re-ordering my pre-travel brochure and fixing the mistake.

I tried hard to accept it, I tried hard to cover it up (cut and paste over hahaha), and it makes me ill to think I am mailing out something like this!

So Shawn told me to suck up the $20 and do it, so I am.

I put ' Used bottled water for drinking and brushing your teeth'

ewwww LOL!!!

So mad that none of us picked up on it, as I had 4 people and myself proofread it numerous times.

Vistaprint has a 40% off coupon that ends today, so it makes me a little less upset lol

Hahahahahhahaa omg I can't believe you fixed it!....

But I totally get that it was driving you crazy! Haha

You have to keep one of the originals though... For a good laugh in 10 years.

That's a little insight into my personality type.

I hate grammar and spelling mistakes on written materials - people always ask me to proofread things!

Minus my spelling and grammar when using my iphone for BDW hahah!

I probably would have stuck to the 'cut and paste' fix, but I kept looking at it and it was driving me mental.

So Shawn told me to spend the $20.  If it was my invitation I would never have accepted it, so why this, you know?

I am NOT looking at the brochure again, because if there is anything else there I won't be ordering another set.

Today is our 3 month count down to our actual wedding date :)

Our paperwork was due today - I know nothing was set in stone - but it was stressful completing it all.

Made you really think thru flowers, cakes, music, etc.

Nothing much new on my front. Awaiting my new brochures (LOL) then will send out the pre-travel packages.

Really just need to start working on my to do list.

Happy planning ladies.

After seeing your engagement pictures I'm now wondering if maybe we can do them! I really liked yours and the price for your photographer was so reasonable! I know that's going to take some convincing with the fiance but I could just be like "It's my valentine's gift" and then he has no excuse haha.

I think it's all coming together so nicely. We're also having a buffet because of prices and because it's just easier, if people don't like one thing they can get up and grab something else. We had gone with the cheapest option (because I was also cheap as hell) but once I realized that we were saving money on other places we decided to get the one that's a little more expensive but with a lot more choices. Also, the cheap one had corn on the cob as the side and I just didn't want to put my guests into that sticky situation of the corn spraying everywhere/getting stuck between their teeth haha. My fiance suggested putting some floss by their plates hahah, not happening.

Every time someone says best day ever it reminds me of he movie tangled haha. I love that phrase :)

Hey @@TinkerSofi - if you do want to look at engagement photos in the city, I have two options for you -

The first - my brother is working on a photography certificate, and has a pretty good eye.  If you have ideas of shots you would want (I looked at Pinterest for my ideas) he could get it done for you.  He is a master at editing too - we had a couple photos on the Peace Bridge, and he was able to edit full PEOPLE out of it.  If you want to see some of the photos, check out our wedding website, under photos (the Engagement Album). I don't know his cost, but I would bet about $200 would do it (I'm not sure how many photos he would do an edit for you but I can find out).

Second option - since we are doing a wedding in Calgary now (and yes, I still look at this site because I love the people and ideas!), we hired a photographer in Calgary.  She does AMAZING photos and has fantastic prices (we have her for 12 hours on our wedding day, as well as her husband, get 300-400 edited photos, free engagement shoot for $1650).  She JUST did our engagement photos on Sunday (I don't have them yet) but she has reasonable prices.  Her blog of photos is here:

Awesome! Thanks for the info! We're still not sure if we are going to do them because we have a lot of expenses right now and I'm the only one with an income at the moment (since my fiancé is still a student). The pictures would be really nice to have but I have to be realistic that I can't afford everything haha

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
