Oot Bag & A Favor?

Recommended Posts

I just had a thought, if you are giving OOT bags to all guests, do you still give them a favor too? I'm doing a cruise wedding, and will deliver the OOT bags the first day of the cruise. I'm spending quite a bit of money on each bag. Do I still have to give a favor at the wedding? Is that customary to do both?

I think it is whatever you want to do. Personally, at weddings, the favor is usually candy or some trinket that gets lost (only cool thing I have gotten is a little bamboo plant). I would be way more excited about an OOT bag! I am doing a nice OOT bag, no formal favors (but having raffia fans and maracas at the ceremony that guests can keep). If you can't think of anything cute/something the guests would really like, or run out of $,I would skip them

I think anything goes!

I personally think the OOT bags are enough, especially since you mentioned spending $$ on them! It's something a lot of people don't expect and will appreciate. I'm doing a few different things but I am not doing an elaborate bag. We are doing maracas at the reception but I reallllllly wanted to give tumblers so that was a splurge for us. We are sticking some hangover items in them. Then fiancé wanted fans for the ceremony lol as his mom already was wondering if she could bring an umbrella due to heat. We went way over our original plans but I think one or the other is fine!!!! I was totally ok just doing the maracas!

I'm doing the OOT as the favors, since I'm putting a LOT of time/effort/money into them (mostly time and effort, they are less than $10 per bag currently)!

I'm putting color-changing stadium cups into the bag, along with sunglasses and a non-personalized shot glass (for the ceremony toast).  So I have a lot of "favor" type of stuff in the bag already.

It's really going to be up to you, as other ladies have said, whatever you feel comfortable with and fits within your budget.  I know my guests will appreciate the thoughtfulness of the bag, and won't be wondering "why didn't I get a real favor" at the wedding.  Although...I am doing small blue luggage tags for placecards, so that could be considered a "favor" I guess LOL.

My OOT bags weren't too bad, until I decided to add Bubba mugs to each one. That's making them pretty pricey. Maybe I'll just do some candy at each seat for the reception. I think I saw somewhere oh pinterest you could customize the wrapper on mini chocolates..that could be an option!

I did this for my daughter's 2nd birthday - I got some personalized stickers off of ebay to put on the bottom of hershey's kisses & reeses cups!  It was quick and easy :)

I think favors are optional with a DW, especially if you're doing OOT bags.  I put together a pretty nice OOT bag (approx $26 per party) so I am going cheap on the favors.  I got clear plastic boxes and jordan almonds and DIY'ed a tag.  FI last name is Jordan so I'm doing a "love the Jordans" type of thing.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
