Hi!

Thanks for the reply!  Wow you have a lot planned for that far in advance! or maybe its not that far? lol I'm just starting out here and we haven't even decided on a date yet, and also didn't know the flight schedules were out for that far in advance?? That is great. What are the prices for Jan 2016?  Did you use a travel agent?

Lol yeah - I wanted to make sure that my guests had a lot of time to plan and be able to afford to go. Holidays can get tricky!

Well they have their schedules for the days that they go but not the times yet.

Our package ranges from $1900 to $3000 a person depending on the type of room that they get. Azul Fives has quite a bit of room availabilities.

We leave on January 4th and come back on January 11th - at least the people who are staying for 7 days. We will be staying for 2 weeks.

I used Algonquin Travel Plus. Her name is Isabel Machado and I absolutely love her. She was awesome! You should find a travel agent first, meet with them, tell them what you are looking for and they will give you options. Then you can get prices for what resort and area you are looking at. Once we picked the resort and we got the prices on which months were cheaper then we picked the day. Do you have an idea of when you want to get married?

They can always change, just a heads up. In May we priced out resorts for January 2015 and May 2015. I was told May's schedule wouldn't be firm and things may get changed once the final schedule was confirmed. Well... We booked for January mid May and I found out in June schedules would be changing. Our flight was cancelled entirely and we got moved to another day. So just wanna throw out there that even less then a year in advance things can change too!!!

Hi Thanks for the info about the travel agent, I think it would be nice to have someone local that i can sit down with and that my guest can easily call as well.  Was she able to get you perks as well? I keep hearing about people getting free rooms, and upgrades and special perks with their TA's...

I'm not sure when we want to get married yet, at first I was thinking  end of nov.2015 but not sure if that will be enough time to figure everything out and let my guests have enough notice?? but i really like the idea of November as I've always seen really great prices at that time.

First off, I have to laugh, I am Kim D. too! haha!

So what happened was they found out they were changing schedules and put us on alert things would be changing.

I had to sit and wait for a month and it killed me.   We were going Sunday to Sunday and getting married on Wednesday.  So at first they came back and said they had switched us to Monday and my travel agent knew that wouldn't fly, so she asked for us to be changed to Saturday and they approved it.    So now we go Saturday to Saturday and marry Wednesday.  I didn't ask to change my wedding date as it still works fine.   This was for Calgary.  My travel agent also had all the people in Toronto moved to the Saturday too.   Thankfully it all worked out, it was stressful.  No we didn't pay any extra, as it was still a direct flight.

My travel agent didn't get me any specific perks at the resort.   What I did get was the free wedding package (free if you have 10 double rooms booked for 7 nights). We chose this package and then did all the upgrades for what we wanted.  This saved us $1866 ish.  Also my TA got us upgraded to first class with Air Canada.   Also Air Canada offered every 17th person for free, so at this point (if my numbers stand - final payment is next week) I get 2 trips free.

We just sent our invites out for the deposits so I only have 6 people booked at the moment. They have until November 16th to put the deposits down so I basically gave my guests 2.5 months or so.

I haven't received any perks yet but my agent just request a couple upgrades. I assume they start to make arrangements once everyone has put in their deposit.

I loved November too but my FI and I are both competitive curlers and October, November, December are out busiest months so we couldn't do that.

lol Hi Kim D

oh that is a pretty good savings still.  For the 2 free trips do you just using that savings towards the weddings or dividing it among guests?

Glad the flight ended up working out, sat-sat i'm sure your guests are still happy about as you get home and still have the sunday to relax before going back to work.

It was our choice what we did with the free trips. We decided to reduce the cost of our trip and spend that money on special things at the wedding - mariachi band being one.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
